Shure se110k vs Bose In Ear Headphones

Hi guys, my brother is in the market for some noise canceling headphones and he come to the conclusion that he wants either of these two pairs, just wondering if anyone has any experience of these and how they perform.

Are bose really as good as they say they are or is it all in the name?

BOSE products are ****, really **** for the price you pay. Listened to all their headphones 2 weeks ago in their regent street store and was shocked how bad they really were compared to my humble Westone UM1 in ears which only cost ~£60.

BOSE really are hyped up by style magazines and bought by people trying to look cool who think they are getting the best sound. Anyone with ears that can compare them to similarly priced headphones or those at 1/5th of the price will realise the truth.

What's his max budegt, obviously check out shure, then UE, westone, many other IEM manufacturers around. Check www.head-fi.org for uber geek help :D

Even the entry level Shure stuff will leave the Bose miles behind they are that poor.

Would suggest listening to a pair if you can as the fit isnt for everyone, Ultimate Ears are also a big step up from the Shure's too, but you pay more for them.

Personally for similar money to the SE110's I would try some FutureSonics Atrio's they have a much more natural sound in my experiance than the Shure with a much better midrange response.
 
The Shures, or Ultimate Ears' Super.fi 3 or 5 will do you much better than any bose crap.

In terms of style...anyone who picks that crappy plastic bose crap over, well, anything, needs their head looking at!

I own a pair of UE's triple.fi 10 pro and they're absolutely awesome. And the best-looking ones out there, too :)

I have the 5's extended base and though they look a bit silly, they sound amazing!
 
loving the anti bose rage, yes there stuff is over priced and not the best but it's nothing like as bad as some people in this thread are making out. In conclusion if it's out of those two get the Shures!

I disagree it's overpriced, crap build and component quality, and speakers/amps costs one quarter of the price are superior sound & build quality. For the HT area, I can build up a system. For Bose Lifestlye 48 @ £2800 I can build a superior system for £800, or similar sound quality system for £400.

O it is that bad when you see the prices they charge. Their in ear phones should be about a tenner, with the triports at £30, then the noise cancelling at about £60. But no, triports over 100 (I think), and the best noise cancelling at a heart attack inducing £275 :eek:

We are just spreading the BOSE love :D
 
The se110s aren't that great apparently from the reviews I have read, I own a pair of se210s which are a step up and they don't sound bad. Quite comparable with the more expensive 310s.

Would avoid Shure if you can because they tend to break after only months of use, have a great warranty service though, so i'm kind of locked in :p

:rolleyes: I know the feeling, some people don't listen to anyone who has a clue, and believe style magazines and wanabee cool people walking along the street.

Stop it with the UE pr0n :D
