Gran Turismo 5 not even out before 2010.

Too true, I don't know many games what have been touted as being released soon then having years but on there release date.

And the ones that where, never came out.

Halo 3 was supposed to be a launch title for the 360, then it was supposed to be out when the PS3 launch a year later it was released 10 months after that. Some games can be rushed out but games such as Halo 3 and Gran Turismo need to be as good as they can be, im pretty sure although its not perfect Halo 3 was probably as good as it was going to get without even further delays. MGS4 was delayed many many times, ok its not everyones liking, but its such a polished game in every respect, so all the waiting is worth it, if time is spent wisely. And as Shigeru Miyamoto once said "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever"

so the release of mgs did not see a increase in console sales?
thats bad news then
look at how halo3 increased 360 sales

I have no doubt that MGS4 increased console sales, people who were thinking of getting a PS3 already were no doubt 'swayed' by the MGS4 release and went out and bought one.

But why would you buy a PS3 at launch for MGS4 when it was ages off release? Thats the point I think V1N and myself have been trying to make.

Also with Halo 3 being so dissapointing for many, those who bought the 360 just for Halo 3, I bet they were a bit miffed :p

so you admit the big name brands are console sellers?
does not matter when people buy the console does it a lot do buy on the back of the big games they expect to be playing on playstation
halo3 is still more played online than any ps3 game i would imagine so it cant be disappointing for that much least they got the game and not some demo

oh touched a nerve?
you wish to debate then do so dont get all upset when your opinion is challenged
gt series sells consoles end off
you are the one hitting out at halo3 on a sony game thread and you say i want to cause an argument? bit ironic

I actually agree with The Stig, these big games are the ones that sell consoles.

But the original comments weren't that big name games sell consoles, it was more of why do people buy the console for a game which is still ages away, if there's nothing else on the console of interest?

Why buy a launch day PS3 for GT5/MGS/FF13 when you know it's ages away?
Wait until it's out, or at least got a solid launch date in the near future.

Reading posts like "I got a PS3 for FF13" don't make sense to me, as it's not out. I'm sure many people did buy PS3s to play MGS on, but I'm sure most of these people didn't buy their console until the run up to the games release?

I personally am really looking forward to God of War III, but I wouldn't rush out to buy a system to play it on, until it was here.

I don't really get the PS3 haters.
I know quite a few 360 fanboys down the pub... all but one have recently traded in and got PS3s.... except one, who amazingly goes out of his way to avoid them.

At the end of last year, he (already owning a normal 20gig 360) bought an Elite and HD-DVD addon, so he could say "haha, don't need a PS3" etc. When Bluray won the format war, he was so determined not to buy a PS3, that he went and bought a more expensive standalone bluray player, with less functionality than the PS3.... ie, its firmware is already out of date.

It's his choice, but I wonder why he absolutely loves his 360 so much, that he feels like buying a PS3 would be cheating on it, or something?

Just goes to further prove what money rinsing ***** Polyphony/Sony are.

Turn 10 can roll out a perfectly adequate, quality racing game such as Forza in two years, but Sony are going to take 5 years doing this?

And GT Mobile is still coming? Ahahahahahahahaha.

Whats the point of developing GT5 for the PSP?, a GT4 port with additional cars would have been fine, and suit perfectly the hardware limitations of the PSP, but instead of getting it done, they just mugged off the people with BS about how it would be release a few months/a year after the PSP was released.

I mean, GT4:Prologue isn't even that good is it?

Sorry if this comes across as a biased rant. I'm just disappointed and don't enjoy being dicked around by false promises.

It's not as if this is just a late game. Its that they use the franchise to sell consoles under false pretences because of it.

I must admit the whole GT on the PS3 has been a bit cheeky, offering GT5P and GT HD they have got round announcing GT 5 by offering a inferior product of GT5, quite clever really to pull the wool over PS3 owners eyes.

They did it with announcing the price and date of GT5P when GT 5 was delayed and they have done it again by announcing updates for GT5P when GT 5 was delayed.

Just out of interest, could you explain to me how I've had the wool pulled over my eyes?

By telling you to go out and buy GT5P because GT5 wont be that far away, Hinojosa-Miranda told people to buy GT5P was GT5 was a year way that was 5 months ago.

Youve obviously never played previous GT titles to realise a Prologue is always released (well from 3 onwards), and theres always delays. If you had actually played the game you can kinda understand why it takes so long, the texture models of the cars in GT5p are gob smacking. I read it takes 6 months a car.

If GT5 wasn't going to be released much after GT5p, I'd never have bothered to get GT5p, I'd just have waited.

I don't see the wool's been pulled over my eyes, I bought GT5p off the PSN, and have spent about 20 hours on it so far. I don't play it daily, but I do enjoy loading it up now and then for an hour.

Each to their own I guess, if you don't want to play GT5p, then don't get it. I personally am looking forward to all the little updates that are coming, better physics did I read? I wonder if the crash damage will arrive at some point. I'd consider it good value for money, and a good stepping stone until the final game eventually comes out.
