Final Fantasy 13 coming to XBOX 360

Language hack? No English version will be present on the disc so there will be nothing to hack in the first place.

But if you mean a fan translation, no it wont happen because it would be pointless since it would take way longer to finish then the actual localisation by Square-Enix.

Also add the fact that it is currently not possible to run modified code on PS3 and there is your answer.

errr...look up a definition of hack? English lanuage doesnt have to present for someone to write a script, it was possible on Crisis Core. Square-Enix are releasing the PS3 and 360 version at the same time, even though theyre porting the 360 one when the jap PS3 one is finished, locatisation is a hell of a lot quicker than porting an entire game so id rather just get the jap one and hope some script kiddy as made a patch, rather than technically waiting for the 360 port to be released. Obviously the PS3s system is more secure than the PSPs but its still a while away yet.

I swear he just reads the bits he wants and interprets it into something entirely different :p I've already covered all that with it not being possible to run modified code.

Plus IF it was possible nobody in their right mind would waste time on a translation when its already going to happen and the official one would be much, much quicker.

Also its not just a case of 'knocking up a patch' it takes a whole lot more to translate a console game then you are giving it credit for.

You didnt really make much sense, you said you couldnt hack the game because the language wasnt there in the first place. aye? Im not after full locationsation!! Just subtitles will do. Someone that can patch text over the top of things, Im sure theres been harder things to code, and ive seen it been done many a times. Lol! Im not expecting a full release PAL locationsation patch by some hacker!

What I don't understand is how the EU version is different to the US version, both are in English and I don't think there will be subtitles in Spanish/Dutch/German/Polish etc. or will those be there in the EU versions?

bit surprised people are getting dramatic and saying they are getting rid of their ps3 now as they bought it for FFXIII...

I'm a bit surprised too, the ps3 is still getting an exclusive on ff13 versus (so far, anyway) which is reason enough to stick with the ps3, assuming that's the only gaming series you're interested in.

I wouldn't buy a console for a game that isn't due out for a few years anyway - I would prefer to get the console as late as possible to allow for better revisions to be made. Or, if I bought one now I would be enjoying some of the content already available for it now (which I am) :)

Read it again... I said there was nothing there (english wise) for them to hack and its not as simple as 'just laying text over the top', it would need to be created from scratch or edited into the existing files the latter of which would be pointless since everything is spread out across tens of thousands of different files. And to be able to read said files you would need software which would also probably need to be created from scratch.

Just believe me its not going to happen, it just wouldnt be worth anyones time to try since it would take longer then the actual release. Then there is also the fact that you cannot run modified code.

I always thought the UK should just get the US version.

They better write a decent storyline this time as FF12 was very underwhelming with poor character development. I don't think the quality has been there since squaresoft became square-enix. FF10 was their last decent final fantasy and that was under the squaresoft brand.

Sony don't have a say in this do they?

Im not sure, Sony get what they want in a way and that is exclusivity in Japan and Asia, this is there big push for Japan and having it split onto 2 consoles would have harmed it, even if it was a slight dent. Over half of the FF12 sales was in JPN and 10/10-2 Japan nearly had half the sales. If MS wanted to hurt Sony they would have paid for it to be released in JPN, this is why i dont think it was a money hat type thing more of a sensible business choice by SE.

you mean the 500 people in japan who own a 360 would have harmed sony's sales?
lol

No i mean all the FF fans in JPN could have got FF13 on a far cheaper consoles, for example if you only want to play the new FF game do you buy a more expensive console to just play it on.

It's my opinion that all games should be multi platform, and then it would be up to the console manufacturers to bring us the best possible usage medium and peripheral systems on which to experience the title. Ever more this is becoming the case and exclusive IP's are becoming less and less important in the grand scheme of things.

Only problem is then you end up with a poor middle ground rather an an optimized for the ground up for one, and all the problems pg games have.

Sony dissapointed about FF XIII

SCEA's Jack Tretton has admitted his disappointment over losing exclusivity of Final Fantasy XIII, which was confirmed for 360 in MS' pre-E3 press conference.

The Final Fantasy series has called PlayStation home since the legendary FFVII launch on PSOne in 1997, with only the MMO spin-off FFXI seeing a release on Xbox 360.

FFXIII will be the first proper RPG in the series on current gen consoles, but Sony will have to share the moment with Microsoft.

"Am I disappointed by it? Yes," admitted Tretton at the E3 show in LA. "Am I surprised? No," he added, acknowledging the increasing need for third-party devs to release games on multiple formats to achieve profitability.

"It's going to be harder and harder to hold on to franchises," said Tretton, also confirming that the game will remain exclusive to PS3 in Japan, according to Kotaku. We're sure all five of the 360 owners in Japan will be gutted.

By the way people were talking in the first half of the first page i had assumed FFXIII has MOVED to the 360, not just become a cross platform game. In an ideal world, every game would be cross platform so i wouldn't have to be jealous of the gits who can play ninja gaiden 2 while i can't.

I really don't see why it's a bad thing that more gamers will have access to what i regard as the best series of games ever made. It also means the budget for future final fantasy games will probably be bigger due to larger profits on an already huge-selling franchise.

When a game goes cross platform, its the consumers that win.

Exactly, but some people seem to think certain games should only be on certain platforms and get upset when other people get to play the same game on a different platform.

These people are generally known as retards.
