Well.

Not due for unveiling in the UK (as it's the only one here, at the moment) until the London Motorshow, the very kind owners hosted a secret event for club members to get the first look at the..........

I'll post my thoughts on it in a bit, along with a few other things.

I don't like it in red though - it looks stunning in blue, mind. I prefer the darker, more refined colours - a bit like this one (not a great pic):

The leather on the driver's seat already looks a bit ropey.

I don't like the glass bonnet window.

6 pots rear calipers are overkill

Reminds me of the NSX in parts.

That drivers seat is going to wear like crazy the way it squashes down like that when even a normal non fatty sits in it. Infact look at it a few pictures later, it already IS wearing on a brand new car

Why oh why do Americans seem to love Chrome?

Great looking car other than those vile, vile wheels.

Yea I didn't like the chrome either. I concur about the leather as well, from my own experiences. The material, whilst comfortable, was very similar to the one in my mum's car which went like that quite quickly. It's unfortunately down to the way you have to get into it too, as that's where you place all your weight then rotate to get in and out so unavoidable in some respect.

However, in 30,000 miles it's still much the same - just wrinkled where it moves. Never been treated either. Mine's still holding together too after 20 years and 168,000 miles in the hot seat :p

Not a fan of the window either. Maybe OK if it showed off fancy polished supercharger, IC and intercooler - but not just a plastic cover.

Thing that gets me most? It's $100,000 which is a bargain for what you're getting, comparitively. However - here, it's 100,000GBP. Go figure. GM have produced the goods in this instance, it's no doubt a very comptent car - but pricing it at that level here may be their downfall.

Some superb attention to detail though - like a minature LCD compass in the corner of the rear view mirror :) - and the exhaust butterflies like the Z06 - it's whisper quiet when idling, manuevering and gentle driving (have videos) but when gunned, blows things apart :D

So much carbon in the car too....

Mixed opinions really, I think I'd have to see one without gash alloys in a dark colour - I love some of the attention to detail, the capability, the comfort and way the controls feel and fall to hand, the looks from some angles and the engineering that's gone into the car but other things like the passenger side interior design, the front end not being haunched enough.......I don't think I'd own one - I think I'd actually prefer a Z06 with the 7.0.

Or a C6 with the absolute **** tuned off it :D

So im guessing the pictures are definitely real this time?

My opinions have already been said really. Looked better in the pre-launch dark blue pictures we saw. Dont like the window on the bonnet and whats with the alloys?

Im always almost embarrassed at how fast they managed to make the ZO6s. Live axles and leaf springs are as Clarkson always says, things we left behind around the same time the Romans left.

Not keen on it, don't like the bonnet bulge, especially the window. Don't like the ugly chrome wheels, seats look poor too. Normal Z06 looks much nicer IMO.

The rear calipers are 4 pots :)

Corvettes haven't had a solid rear axle since the C1 in the 1950s. The C2 released in 1962 had double wishbone IRS with the transverse leaf spring.

Like most things, the composite transverse leaf springs have a lot of prejudice surrounding them but actually have several benifits - just because Chevrolet have stuck with them seems to have made them a constant point of irritation for everyone else, regardless of these facts.

Those same people probably aren't laughing now (well, in the States they never have been as Corvettes rule the autotests and tracks out there for the most part), given that it holds the production lap record around the 'ring now :D - beating even the mighty Veyron at a tenth of the cost :p

Nah, Mustang does though :p Not that there's anything wrong with that, either! Just the usual TG gaff, **** it off for having that tech one week, then praise the living daylights out if it the next.

What you mean you can see through TGs reviews, ideas, comments and understanding? Impossible!

( does still make for some good viewing though :) )
