Your earning money, pay for your own travel expenses, stop scrounging.

I am sorry, you were considering scrounging as a career path, please accept my sincere apologies.

I'm not being funny, but have you read my posts? The government is on his side and says that his working hours and income are not suitable, this is why Income Support exists. To supplement a working person's wage.

You can take some comfort in the fact he will have to convince them that staying in his current job is better for him than going to work in a McDonald's, and he might well not be able to do that. But best of luck to him all the same.

all he wants is to be able to afford to go and get a decent job and make something of his life so he wont have to scrounge

i would rather that than him do nothing with his life and become a fulltime waster

There are loads of jobs out there that pay more than £250 per month, the OP just seems to think that these sort of jobs are beneath him, afterall he doe not want to be a "teaboy"

do you want to be a tea boy?

and Im not saying these jobs are beneath me at all - again you assume, Im saying that £250 a month is a **** wage and I need better to be able to look for a proper job.

You said you didn't want to be the Teaboy, did you not?

Well soon you may have to work for your dole and so I should stay put and look for another job than to go on the dole lol.

Gaaaahhhh he's said he wants income support now, not dole. :p

Income support is the obvious choice for him while he tries to secure more hours, better pay and a better position in his current job. That's not going to happen if he quits his job and goes to work at McDonalds or Tesco instead.

Get a second part-time job in a bar or something to pay for your travelling expenses.

Going on the dole is not an option. Remember that when you're applying for vacancies in your chosen field you will be unlikely to be the only applicant, you will be in competition with others. Who would you employ? Someone who has earned their living since graduating whilst waiting for the right job to come along or someone who is happy to sit at home watching daytime TV and living off the state.

Maybe if his CV is in produced in the same manner it may go some way to explain why he cannot get his programming job.

sorry but you comment about my grammar and punctuation (pretty pathetic) and then you do that. Why should I care about my grammar and punctuation for someone that cant be bothered to read the original post.

Im not saying I want to live off the state until I get the job I want, Im saying that Im getting less money than someone recieving dole and I have been informed (thanks) that I can claim income support in the mean time so I think thats the best option for me until I find a more suitable job.

that sounds fair enough, i cant understand why anyone would have a gripe with that

is it only people who can do the above that get degrees?

Gordon Bennett - NO! Pretty much anything I get from anyone under 25 is littered with spelling and grammar issues. And that's just their code;) Luckily I'm not a spelling or grammar Nazi - I simply ask them to use a checking compiler in future. And then I deduct a reasonable charge for correcting their errors so I don't have to pay them...

That usually educates them quickly enough....
