Which oil?

I need to top up (and change for fresh) oil in the fester pretty soon as whenever I go around a corner too sharp the oil warning light comes on - same with sudden braking.

It's a P reg 1.1 petrol Fiesta, does anybody know what oil they require?

Looking on the oil sites, there isn't a 1.1 Fiesta that age :confused:

either 1.25 P reg onwards or up to N reg 1.1.

1.1 is 5w-30 semi
1.25 is 5w-40 semi

However wouldnt you now want a thicker oil as its getting on a bit? (ie 10/40)

I have say this, but being an old boggo car like that, whatever guff the flick-through guide in your local Halfords says to stick in? That's all I would do

. If the engine has a lot of miles on it or has ben thrashed to pieces then what Ste_bla said is worth thinking about imo.

Find your local ford parts place. Oil there is nice and cheap and you can just ask the guy behind the counter if you arnt sure.

It's done 50k and isn't thrashed, I'll do the filter while im at it too I reckon.

If you do an oil change you MUST change the filter, otherwise you just infect the clean oil again when it passes through it.

Yeah thought so, never heard of an oil change without the filter too.

Can I buy online then go down to my local branch this afternoon? All I could find on the online ordering was bottles of oil, not changes?

Sat in reception now watching them change the oil. Really pushed the boat out and went for the £6 flush too! Certainly beats crawling around under the car!
