P45 - Asus P5Q Deluxe or a Gigabyte GA-EP45-x?

Hi Guys,

Just getting into S775 and think Ive decided to go for a P45 chipset rather than X38...

Anyway after working that out Ive been looking at mobos and this is where Im confused. It seems Asus and Gigabyte are now in favour (Id love another DFI but not after a monster clock and really cant justify the money).

With Asus Ive decided to shortlist it to the P5Q Deluxe, but still confused with Gigabyte - what are all the differences with the GA-EP45s? I definitely want eSATA and no whiny chipset cooler...

Can't speak for the Gigabyte, but I can vouch for the P5Q Deluxe. It's an awesome board.
 
Paired up with a TRUE and E8500 and some Corsair 4Gb?

I think Ill plomp for that then - never thought Gigabyte were anything but a cheap and cheerful make myself...

Gigabyte now make damn good boards. But I've no personal experience with thier P45 ones.

But the ASUS will be a fine choice.
 
Have just built a system using P5Q dlx, TRUE and 4 gb corsair (after recommendations from cob et al) and am really very happy with it. It overclocks well (and im a bit of a novice) and is rock solid stable - i would recommend!

Certainly not cheap, at £198.56 ......

and if you read This you will get a better idea of it's performance....

If I was buying a P45 board at this present time, I would go for either an Asus P5Q Deluke or P5Q E....
 
Thats wierd - jbloggs link said it does have WIFI :confused:

Or does WiFi-AP@n mean something else?!?

EDIT: Just double checked and as you said its only the DDR3 one...

And there was me hoping to take my steel CM Stacker into the garden :p

CBA to look at the Gigabyte boards - just too many to compare - wish mobo manus would make premium boards without things like onboard sound - a lot of us usually have an XFi or Sonar so never need it...

* P - Silent pipe, Raid, Extra pci-e, extra sata (ie ep45-ds3p)

Well i have a gigabyte DS5 p45 board and really couldn't be happier not a single problem since i installed it and so far very nippy board. Downside is the extra price of it over the P5Q range i bought this one as it had the best chance with the ram i had. Although i love the giga board i couldn't really tell someone to get one if they are starting from scratch and need to get ram it would be P5Q all the way.

I worked out I could only really consider the DS5 or DQ6 which meant spending more than the P5Q Deluxe so that made the decision for me...
