just curious when u play games such as gt, forza and other racing games what transmision do u prefer?. And to the serious hardcore racers do u think u have an advantage over an automatic by using manual?.
Automatic for me with the wheel, I just find it too much to think about when going round corners to downshift, and I start over or under revving it, sometimes braking in 3rd gear, and flooring it in 1st
Although there is the advantage, as whenever I drive a car, I always want it to shift earlier!
I drove auto when I started playing them and moved to manual once I'd got the hang of how the cars felt in each game. Like the previous people have said on this thread, it gives you an advantage over automatic cars depending how closely matched you are and of course how good a driver you are.
Thing is for me though, I feel like i've got more control over the car if I have it in manual. Sure I might overrev it sometimes or short shift every so often but it just feels a bit more as though you've got more say as to what the car does. And if you time it well enough you can slow the car down under the engine as well as the brakes. But that only works well on tracks you know well and have learnt the racing line for.

Auto always. When I start my driving lessons in real life I'll be screwed .
Don't worry about that man. My mates who have always driven in auto on video games havn't had too much trouble learning to drive manual cars in real life. I guess it's because you're not trying to go round corners at 90mph in whatever you're learning in
Depends on the game. Forza is manual and just about all other games would be auto unless i have time to adjust. But one of the things with PGR series which i have loved is the semi auto nature of being able shift up and down gears manualy if you need to and let it do the majority of shifting. Full time manual in pgr4 with the fast cars is a bit too much for me.
