What NXE (the new xbox360 dash) will look like with Themes

what i'm interested in is flexing the 120GB hdd because with this update the ability to dump game's on the hdd will be available ( i.e. GTA4 dumped to hdd an run from there as long as orig disk is in the 360 drive )

At last my 360 will be quieter then my PS3 !

i must say i prefer the look of the ps3 menu system tbh but im not particularly fussed tbh

The PS3 XMB has always been the most organized as easiest to use out of the 3 consoles. This new 360 looks to be a lot more organized and better designed. I just hope the store is organized too.

If you want to see the new system in action, then take a look at the link below...

Nice find matey.

To be honest it looks like my worst fears. They've replaced the friends list with some Habbohotel-eque hang out? How can I see at a glance who is online? Where has my gamercard gone? Whole sections while appealing to this non-existent figment of a casual market will be completely ignored by the core market.

In fact I see myself using the old school blade system they briefly showed much, much more.

Of course this is all subject to change when we actually get our hands on it!

It looks like they have made a mini me of the blad system if you really miss it.

After watching that video i hate the new dash even more! seems like they've gone for a mix of Home/Mii which i don't want, why else would i have a Wii/PS3. I want a seperate experiance on my 360, not a bloody imatation of other formats.

I don't like it, but i don't hate it. I can see why they have made some of the changes and will have to wait until I get a chance to use it before I make a decision on it. Some of the changes look like they could make things easier and if it runs 'smoother or at-least as smooth as the current blade system then I don't have any complaints.

Looks good. I'm getting sick of the current dashboard, it just looks horrible. Especially the side window things that come up, they look really dull and low quality.

well...it's not like we have any choice over the new dash! i'm sure we'll all get used to it and a few months after the update we'll wonder what all the fuss is about.

personally, i like the current dash but i'm looking forward to the new one. i like change and it'll be interesting and fun to use the new dash. except those poxy avatars!

That looks great, looks like it would feel much 'nicer' being on that dashboard.

I really hope it is less clunky and slow feeling then the current one as well.

Apparently you don't have to use the NXE http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=193664
Reading the article though Major Nelson is just saying that everything you used to be able to do can be accessed via the new Guide. So you do have to have the update but you can continue and never have to use it.

Nice find, to quote from the article:

"The Dashboard as you know it today, in other words the 'blades'; Games, Live, Media and System," The Major explained, "We've taken those blades and moved them to the Guide. Every single function that you can do today in the Dashboard you are going to be able to do in the New Xbox Experience in the Guide.

"When you press the Guide button on the Xbox 360 controller, the new Guide will come up and you're going to be able to do everything in there. You're going to be able to contextually browse Marketplace, did you know that? So when you have Gears of War 2 of Halo 3 in there you're going to be able to go straight to that section."

Sounds excellent to us. Even more good news for New Xbox Experience haters comes in the form of Avatars, and how you don't have to use them. "If you don't like the avatars, they're not required. You can use your Gamer Pictures," said Hryb in the podcast. "Your existing and Gamer Pictures and Themes still work," adds co-host 'e'.

So at least if we all do still hate it once it is out at least we can set the game to start on boot and stay in the nice cosy blade system :D

Can I be the first to say that looks awful :p
I don't particularly care for the dash in its current state either, but that looks far too cluttered. If its only a tab switching animation, then that's not too bad, but its a near useless gimmick that isn't really necessary.
We need an option, for one or the other, not a new dash design forced upon us at a whim.

What? you wanna say thats more "cluttered" than the state of the current Dashboard, which as UI's goes is not really that easy to use or intuitive to users at all really!?

I think it looks good and a welcome change for the amount of media the 360 was starting to cover.
