Garages. Stupidest idea ever.

But if 99% of people use them for storing their random junk then wouldn't it make sense to design them for that purpose?

how would you propose they changed the design in order to make them more fit for that purpose?

surely by the fact that so many people already do happen to use them (rather than say the attic or spare room) for storing junk would imply that they are already well suited to that purpose anyway - i.e. no need for insulation, big door at the front so easy access & situated on the ground floor.

My uncle is building an extension to his new house which "looks" like a garage from the front but is actually a fitted kitchen on the inside - garages are so last decade :p

How can you live without a garage?
How do you do car repairs. Any electrical work for the house, store any DIY stuff for the house? Or do you have to pay people to do even the most basic jobs?

still need to change oil and brake pads etc..

If I can ever afford a house it will have to have at least a single garage.. But I will be getting a flat first.

still need to change oil

Does it  ? Tell that to my dad and his corolla :D.

Anyways my 2 requirements for when I ever have enough money to buy a house:

1: Get a house already linked up to fiber Internet.
2: Get a house with a nice big garage, with big I mean it must be able to fit something like a Dodge RAM.

My garage isn't wide at all. We've got some boxes and crap at the end of it, but it just about fits a Micra with space for the driver to shimmy out once it's parked in.

There's enough space at the side to extend it into a double garage though, should I ever somehow have the money to do so considering I need to dig up and re-landscape the back garden, re-do/tarmac the entire driveway/front and get a new conservatory fitted.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.
