2001 BMW 330i - which oil?

Can anyone here tell me which oil I should be using for the above car?

My local dealer said they use Mobil 1 5W40.
However I've been searching google and 0W30 or 5W30 is also used so I'm a bit confused.

My owners manual gives me specifications the oil should comply with but that's it.

Google the specifications, that will give you the oil type

BMW LL01 oil, I use Mobil 1 0W-40 but you can also use Castrol Edge 0W-30 or anything else that's LL01 (or LL04) compliant.

So it doesn't matter what's used as long as it's LL01 or LL04 compliant... that explains why everyone uses different stuff then!

Castrol Edge is what BMW use, it's just got a different name for their own use though. But yeah any long life 01 oil
