hi
microsoft as released the RTM to OEM companys only. but my question is will mmicrosoft release it to the public or are they just letting OEM companys have it so people must buy a new pc just to get it (which will be stupid)..
The general wisdom so far seems to indicate that we're getting the shaft.
adds many things.. heres a few, dvb-s/s2, hd, able to run more then 2 tuners, teletext, interactive (red button via dvb-t). now records in (.wtv) format..I read somewhere that it was the 3rd of September for public release - can't remember where though, sorry.
I'm a VMC user - what is this supposed to do?

I seriously doubt that they would prevent people that purchased Vista only instead of a whole new PC from accessing
all features of Media Centre.
Think we'll have to "officially" wait until CEDIA in September for any official announcements, but I'll go for a retraction and back to "I hope this gets released" instead of saying what I said earlier.... damn custard proof!
Have a look at Chris Lanier's blog for some more info, but as he says, the behaviour of the beta testers (who, let's not forget, are under NDA) has likely PO'd Microsoft.... suppose we can look forward to a nice closed beta next time and getting stiffed again!
Still, what's in the TV Pack looks pretty damn useful.
Media Centre is OK but could be excellent.
Agreed. Not trying to call you out, just hoping that all users get equal treatment, as Media Centre is OK but could be excellent.
