HTC Diamond or iPhone 3G

Ive been looking between them (and a couple of the other htc touch series) and cant see the iphone working for me, I currently have an htc tytn and its been dropped more times than a fat kid at footy practice and still works...mostly, the iphone ticks most boxes bar the camera, It doesnt seem to have macro mode and looks a bit open to damage, expensive damage!

your a vista fan?
did you say that as if it will get you some respect? horrible horrible OS imo.

why? I am a windows vista man so not a fan boy of apple, but for phones you do want them to 'Just Work' which the apple does.

Apple products "just work" if you ignore all the posts, threads and websites devoted to people who find they dont "just work".

;)

I'm lost without my TYTN II at the minute, I've had to go back to my old N73, its a massive step back.

no i was mearly saying it so you didnt jump down my neck saying i was apple fan boy. Its kind of sad you have to back your opinion up by saying you use windows and you arn't a fanboy of either company.

vista is a great OS if you use 64bit and have good hardware. But then the argument it why should you have to have good hardwere and 64bit to have an OS work well? swings and roundabouts.

iPhone for the win but looking forward to seeing SE X1 and Omnia. If only Windows Mobile was as smooth as iPhone OS it would bring so much more to the table (in terms of companies and features offered)

also the TYTN II is nearly 200g which is 60g more than the iphone, and I consider the iPhone to be a big and heavy phone!

you could build a house out of TYTN II's :)

Windows Mobile is extremely dated OS. If you HAVE to choose between the two Id go for iphone but I personally would stick with my N95 8GB.

Absolutely no comparison - get the iphone! So much of a better product and OS.

Sorry but I disagree

Ive played with both of them, and this afternoon bought the Diamond. The 3G Iphone was a let down IMO, I was dead set on getting one until I picked one up, it just feels a lot cheaper in comparison to the old one, the plastic back takes away a lot of the quality feel.

Both are very nice to use, and i will admit the iphone is easier to use, but the applications pdate was a huge letdown IMO, and the GPS setup it supposedly has will tell youwhere you are when standing still, but it cannot be used as a satnav device, which was a pretty big factor on my purchase.

I take it the Diamond can be used for turn by turn in car directions can it?

I am still deciding. For me the iPhone OS is far superior, however I need features right now which is whats stalling my decision.

I was having a similar debate with myself. But staying with my O2 Xda Orbit 2 or going for an iPhone 3G, still undecided but leaning towards getting a Samsung Omnia i900 16GB in a few months when released.

Like the OS & Interface on the iPhone particularly the Web browsing, but there are a few things I don't like the Camera, no MMS, no Office Apps, no cut & paste option, no interchangeable battery. Plus as stated it just doesn't look as good a metal back would make it look superb.

I was going to get an iPhone 3G but then decided n ot to as there are some things whcih would annoy me such as the camera with no video, no mms and other stuff so I am goign to wait for the HTC Touch Pro whcih is the same as the Touch Diamond but with a slide out keyboard, expandable memory via Micro SD and flash for the camera so that should be great but I want to know if it comes with a stylus and a place to store it within the phone itself?

Thanks

Regards,
Neil

The Touch Diamond has one, and it's nice and magnetic so it won't keep dropping out and getting lost like the ones I use for my HTC TyTN I, so I have to assume the Touch Pro will have one too.
