Bose headphones

QuietComfort 3 are nice but this forum tends to have a higher number of people against BOSE due to the cost. (And the occasional moron who slags them off stating that the cost makes no difference to the quality vs cost ratio).

I own the BOSE around-ear headphones and they sound great.

As above though there are no wireless headphones from BOSE as of yet. Check out www.bose.co.uk

No, we **** them off because they're total utter crap. Do you want me to go through the technical reasons? Or post the graphs and charts? Or would you be happy with me just retelling all the times I've had to endure the awful Bose sound?

Or would you like to tell me I'm an idiot for spending £180 on my earphones when I could've bought the Bose ones instead? If so, then all the other folk who buy my earphones instead of Bose models are also morons, right? Including the professionals who use my earphones day in day out for their job?

Wireless phones are poop.
Bose are poop.

Well Bose are overpriced and low quality. For £350 you can buy a set of HD-650 headphones plus a headphone amplifier.

Or two pairs of Sennheiser's PXC350s!

I suppose it depends what you want, but I don't know why you'd buy Bose over anything. Maybe you don't like cash in your wallet, maybe large numbers in your bank scare you?

My housemate bought a pair of Bose desktop speakers for £170. £170! I do admit that they do good deep base for the size of the sub, but the rest, eek. The speakers are PLASTIC! My £50 Logitechs are better built!

It's the same for £4500 Bose Lifestyle, you can crunch the Jewel/Cubes in your palms like walnuts. Even Creative Labs FPS-2000 would require a hammer to smash them.

Omar Bose has the world suckered.

But he's a former professor! A PROFESSOR!

I do think the whole study of psyhoacoustics is interesting, but bouncing sound around a room doesn't make good sound, since 'enveloping' is not the same as 'good'. The industry has moved on and Bose hasn't.

I'd only agree that reflecting speakers are suitable for surrounds if you're really close to them, and usually you are. I own dipole and bipole. However Bose sats are terrible way of doing it, you really need a wide range system, 80hz-20khz. Not Bose 200hz-14khz for the sats. Heard Bose going and it sounds identical to the effect (not quality of course) my bipoles give, if you listen to them in stereo where you normally place left/rigt (actually I can do a party mode which is basically 7 channel stereo, rears and sides get duplicated channels from the respective left/right sides so don't need to swap them over)

Reflecting for mains though is a big no-no.

Good god learn to relax man. fwiw I couldnt give a monkeys what you're opinion is on Bose so there is no need for me to resort to name calling.

I wasn't name calling, but you did call people like me morons! :)

I've no doubt the QC3s are 'good', but not £275 good. Next time I fly AA business class I'll give 'em a try ;)

I like my Bose headphones. The noise-cancelling ones are way too expensive though imo, and I'm not a big fan of any of their speakers. I only like the sound of the headphones, the speakers sound much too bright, no weight to the sound. Blegh.

I agree £275 is overpriced for the headphones in question, however I do enjoy the Bose equipment that I own.
In the same way I agree my £90 B&O earphones were overpriced for the sound quality, but at least they were solidly built :D (The QC3s may be the exception as they have to be sturdy, but all the other Bose stuff I've seen isn't)

i can see there are a lot of Bose haters on here. I can understand both sides of the argument really.

The reason i ask about wireless is that i am after some decent quality headphones for my mum. they must be quality in sound and build. She wears them round the house so that is why they need to be wireless.

Am i correct in thinking that all wireless headphones are pretty poor quality??

Nice wireless stuff?

You have to use Sennheiser. The Sennheiser RS 140 is supposed to be one of the best for it's price ( I have only heard RS120 and they were good only)

The problem (well not a probelm jsut how they work) is they dont REALLY NEED the public to buy their stuff, I have family that work for BOSE, they have the Military side of things sown up, the consumer things was always a number 3 after R&D and Military equipment.

Say what you like, but they own the market, if all the other companies where so good they would take it back if they are THAT much cheaper and THAT much better.

People here seem exaggerated and biased, fanboyish, when most Audiophile site will tell you its horses for courses, they own the Home Casual user market, not the Audiophile market.

If you like buy all the speerates, have to get them all right, sorting all the cabling and know how to setup each connection, great.

But on the comnsumer level, most poeple would PAY for the convnience the a BOSE system offer, Everything in one box, and the setup is simple.

But for what its worth, their Canal/ in-ear pones are just plain crap lol.
