GT5 Prologue Update (August 1st)

It seems more and more aparent that GT5P will get the Aug 1st update and then the expected "damage update"

With further rumours mounthing that the full GT5 game is indeed going to be delayed its highly possible that in some form a GT5P "Payable Upgrade" is going to be likely.

I personally wouldnt mind this if it included additional tracks, cars and the photomode with of course the online offering private lobbies.

Everything within GT5P will be useable within the full GT5 so any cars or money you achieve will carry over (althought the money at this time is limited that you can amount)

well they have the full nurburgring up and running in that video of the ferrari california
so hopefully they release that and some more cars in the meantime
and damage would be nice

I'm sure I read way before GT5P was released that PD were going to make everything in GT5 as DLC for GT5P. Meaning that by the time the full product arrives (2010?)if you have purchased every pack via DLC you will in essence have the full product.

On the plus side the game stays fresh with continious updates, but on the downside anyone doing this will probabley find the full game will end up costing more than the RRP of the GT5.

Obviously this all depends on the cost of the DLC.

Anyway this could mean by this time next year you will have the full product minus a handfull of cars & a couple of tracks assuming you purchase all the DLC?

Episodic content eh?
Oh the joys of DLC

Still if calling it a beta is what some want to do, can i have a Killzone 2 (Prologue) ahem, beta and other games to enjoy them months in advance as well?

IMO there's no way that GT5P is a Beta, the product is final just missing some features, but mainly more cars & tracks.

I'm sure over the next 18 months or so PD will address and tweak things but not because they are broken but more to do with trying to improve the game as it moves on.

Anyway I digress, as far as I'm concerned it's the best £18 I've spent on a game in a long long time.

Well it may not be an overly buggy product but we are all still providing feedback and they are still developing it (not just adding tracks and cars), I don't see how that can be considered to be final.

I'll be very surprised if GT5 has the same degree of slowdown which is severe enough that it can ruin laptimes.

I've played the game for hours upon hours and have very rarely noticed slowdown??

Certainly nothing that would ruin my laptimes....

id prefer to see PD get lots of race data now to create a fantastic final system for use on GT5, toherwise they could have mantained naivety and have the ultra bad nerfing situation we have now on some online events!

Maybe Beta is a bit harsh but it sure feels like it.

I am a huge fan of the GT series and have bought most of them, but somehow Prologue feels and drives differently, it is very hard to explain, maybe it is the missing tracks and cars but I got bored very quickly and raising enough cash to buy the faster cars felt like grinding.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue expands this Friday, August 1st with a fairly large content patch. Not only will the patch bring the first load of GTTV content, but also a few gameplay enhancements and fixes. A full list of GTTV videos is available on the official site and will be constantly updated as more is added.

At the moment there's plenty to choose from, from season 6 of Top Gear (a must see) to Japan's Super GT and a "video magazine" called Video Option. For the first two weeks all paid-for content will be at the reduced price of $0.99, letting you trial the content for a little while for half price.

The patch also adds "fixes in penalty judgments, more tire choices for Time Trial and improved physics during collisions between cars during online races." Sounds like a pretty hefty update. Not bad for a free patch, right?
