The R26R is now officially the fastest FWD production car.

When you look at what cars it beat on the nurburgring its VERY impressive indeed imo :cool:

Renault Formula 1 boss Pat Symonds said the car has now lapped the 'Ring in 8.17 and is quicker than any other FWD car. There is a weight saving of 123kg over the standard R26 (the R26.R now weighs 1230kg) thanks to lighter glass, just two seats and a carbon fibre bonnet.

I expect the new Focus RS will take the record back once its been on the ring

An early development mule of the new Ford Focus RS with between 250-260bhp has been lapping the Nurburgring in 8min 27seconds, PistonHeads has learnt. The car has around 45bhp less than the production version and was driven by a Bentley test driver on a very hot day.

I think that looks the dogs. I would be supprised if the rs beats it seeing as that has a roll cage in it as well.

Well I saw it as theres another R26.R thread, and it says it in there. IMO Didnt really need another thread. But hey, this is IMO.

All in all the R26.R is turning out to be a much better car than I originally thought (and i guess a lot of you guys too

I think they must have the mic in the engine bay or something. Just sounds like air sucking. Although sometimes exhausts on turbo cars inside sound like that in high revs. Looks awsome on the track.

The standard one will still be a fair bit lighter than the Focus RS, no wonder they didn't bother with 4wd on the ford.

Yer was reading a peice in Evo last ngiht about the RS v R26.R and the RS is going to weigh more that the current ST! So that's around 1400kg! :eek:

I'm not convinced it would beat the Civic FD2, and the Civic FD2 can seat 5 and doesnt need a turbo.
