dirty scammers

I have just recently changed my MSN address to my Gmail one. I only use the Hotmail to give to people who I know will spam it. Actually, is there anyway to close and account? ( Hotmail one, that is? )

hmm thinking about all this do you think i should move my important details, my ebay(just remmebered i had an account and a paypal too :o and accounts with various etailers) to a more secure provider and if so who should i go with?

Best thing to do is open a free email account that has pop3 added to it. Gmail for example.

Use Outlook Explorer or Vista's Mail to download the messages to your pc. Make sure to tick the box to not keep the messages on the server.

That way, at least if your account is hacked, there are no messages on there to be snooped at plus you have a copy on your hard drive. ;)

this is why i use my ISPS email service, if anything ever goes wrong i know i can contact them and get it resolved easy.

i dont understand why people use free email accounts for etailers etc

But what happens when you change ISPs? Utter, utter pain. If you want the best of both worlds then you can get a paid email account on your own domain for about a 10er a year. You might not get as good a webmail system as the likes of hotmail but you get the same security advantages as an ISP mail account, and you can keep the same address and move it to any provider.

guess it all depends on how good your isp is in your area.

living in a rough area like me i doubt many people have internet ;) , i know the UBRS utilisation was 6% a few months back when i was having signal issues.

been with my isp for 6-7years now so doubt i will ever switch

Truth! I pay £6 a year for my hosting (well actually I got this year's free for beta testing :D) and can have as many emails as I like within reason. POP, IMAP and SMTP are all secured by SSL and I have a random 64 character alpha-numeric password \o/

Their webmail's decent enough too. What is this hotmail you speak of? :p

Why do people say "hacked"??

Try being honest and say you stupidly clicked on a bogus link and gave away your account details or you gave them to someone.

10 years as an admin and I've never seen a true hacking of someones account.
