on monday morning while I was asleep someone stole my little corsa from outside my house, which has ****** me off for the inconvenience, the police arnt interested and obviously the insurance company cant do anything yet, so I need another run-about to save driving the mr2 and camry.

So ive been checking autotrader, and ive seen a few cars, one being an M-reg rover 218 diesel for £450, im going to have a look at it tommorrow, what are the common issues, does the diesel engine suffer from the H-gasket issues like most rover?

cheers

Shocking!! Little *****!

Trust the police though, give them a phone and tell them you have saw a corsa (regi number) speeding and you might get it back :p

Least they gave you an opportunity to get rid of the corsa :p

speeding? they wouldnt believe me, its a 1.2 corsa ;)

it was a P O S, but it was my P O S lol, i just need another little run-around while things get sorted out

Sorry to hear about your Corsa being nicked. But hey, look on the bright side - your Corsa is gone! :)

The Rover diesels don't suffer HGF the way that the K-Series petrols do, so you'd be okay on that score. Still....you've got to be able to find something better than one of those, surely.

If it's a 218 then it's a version of the infamous Peugeot XUD engine. The 'SD' or 'SL' will be a non-intercooled turbo diesel, the 'D' will be an appallingly lethargic non turbo diesel.

Sadly most if not all of these were fitted with the Lucas CAV injection, so you can't go bunging neat veg oil into it.

M reg 218 is likely to be an L-Series Diesel, although it could be a Honda?

All the L series engines were 2.0L. There were no Honda diesel engines fitted to Rovers in this era.

I doubt the police wernt interested, as tomv is a priority crime, I assume someone has been to see you? Not much you can offer given that you havnt seen/heard anything.

nope no one has been here, i was given a reference number  and told if they find it, it will be put in a pound with a £1xx release fee

as a runaround im looking for sub £500, lengthly MOT and taxed, performance isnt an issue, it just needs to be reliable

the police take the **** £100 release fee cheeky *******

I think it must be a Corsa thing!

I bought 1.5td corsa as a temp runabout. It was parked on the other halfs drive as it needed an mot. THe day the mot was booked i recieved a call off the police saying it had been TWOC'd and then burnt out.

Fast forward 3 weeks and i recieved a bill for £400 for collection and storage!!!! Managed to get the bill reduced to £105 as wasnt insured and i couldnt afford to pay the whole thing.

Luckly they caught the driver and he's due in court soon. Trying to get the court make him pay compo but i arnt expecting to get it.

Shocking that the police charge the owner for storage. Yet another case of punishing the victim; they should put a lien on the benefits of the ****** who do this (or if too young their parents).

Have you tried ringing round your local scrap yards and breakers? If it was a POS then I bet some ***** has taken it to sell for scrap.

PK!
