Games for windows now free + dx11

Good news and hopefully boost PC gaming even more as most new titles are GFWL and the free online should increase game sales now.

I know one thing, it will boost sales on DX10/10.1 cards as people wont feel they want to wait for DX11 cards as much since DX10 cards will work on DX11 games proberbly in DX11 mode aswell.

I doubt it will have much effect (at least not for another year), as if people are in the market for a new card I couldn't see them hanging around forever with a slow card anyway. People need a DX10 card to play DX10 games, even if they weren't able to run DX11. Heck, a lot of people buy cards for performance in older DX versions (say, a 9700pro for dx8 performance, 8800 for dx9 performance etc), never mind worrying about future ones!

After doing a bit more reading it looks like dx11 will be compatible with dx 10 tech, so it looks like if you have a dx10 cards there is no need to upgrade.

How about a "new compute shader technology" that gets your GPU ready to do more than just boring old 3D graphics

Well, that pretty much marks the end for CUDA and Brook+ then. We'll have to see how OpenCL competes against DX11 stream processor computation goes then.
