20 Abandoned Cities from Around the World: Deserted Towns and Other Derelict Places

Famagusta isn't a ghost town? Having been there I've never seen part of it that could be labelled as a ghost town. Is this more Greek Cypriot propoganda ?

Unless I've obviously missed any 'ghost' part...

Errrr, yes you must have missed it then. Search on google for Varosha. It's not propoganda at all and it's disgusting that the land still hasn't been given back.

Kowloon Walled City featured in Shemue II didn't it? I just imagined it to be dramatised for the purpose of a game, but clearly not! Amazing.

Copy/paste from somewhere else most likely. Not saying that's necessarily bad, but if it's the case then due credit should be give to the original person who posted the article.

It's from WebUrbanist.com - a fantastic site, with tons more crazy awesome stuff just like this :)

Still, I'd completely forgotten about this, so cheers for the reminder OP :)

welcome to the forums!

I've been to Oradour-sur-Glane and it really is a spooky place. The massacre was perpetrated by the 2nd SS Panzer division (Das Reich) on its way from Montauban to Normandy to confront the Allied landings in 1944.

It created some post-war controversy for the French as some of its soldiers were considered French as they came from Alsace. It was dealt with in a typical French way with those arrested for war crimes being let off and the incident "cleansed" of French involvement.

Another abandoned place is the city of Kuneitra on the Golan Heights plateau. It was on the front line between the Syrians and the Israelis in two wars and is now derelict and empty.

Looks like I missed that. When you say 'the land' do you mean all the land in general? I would suggest you read some history about the run-up to the conflict from neutral sources other than those with a massive greek bias.
