Apparently I can't connect to any new ISP (ideally want an LLU provider) because my exchange is overcrowded. Just called O2 and they said that I can't have LLU or Access. Is there someone I can call to find out when my exchange capacity will have been upgraded? I don't fancy blindly waiting as I'm quite reliant on an internet connection for work.

according to the availability checker on there, everything's fine and I should be able to get LLU. grrrr.

AFAIK Samknows doesn't get any data for space in the exchange.

If you're migrating there shouldn't be a problem, and a shortage of space or ports shouldn't affect every ISP.

well, that's what I thought but my be account was cancelled last week, I tried to reconnect it Friday and it didn't work, tried Monday, Tuesday and today and it says that the exchange is overcrowded. I don't really want to try another provider as I liked my unlimited fast be connection. O2 wouldn't let me connect to their LLU or Access, so I'm a bit confused and I don't know who to contact!

Ah - if you cancelled, the port was probably handed to someone else.

O2 and Be are the same, so any issue with one will be the same with the other. Try one of the BTw ISPs or another LLuer and see what they say, or keep pushing O2/Be for an answer...

yeah, I cancelled with be because they don't let you just move, you have to cancel and sign up again.

tried a couple of others and there's no mention of this overcrowding thing. I'm assuming it's an issue with my phone number and the fact that I'm going from them back to them. Looks like my evening's going to be fun!

It's unlikely to have anything to do with your number.

Be only have so many ports and once they're gone they'll need to install more kit. If there isn't room for that, they have to wait for BT to extend the space Be have (which might need major building work) or customers to leave.

I see. Bit cheeky of them to give mine away when I was only moving. If they didn't have the best product, I'd go somewhere else!

What do you think my best bet is, call be/o2, bt or try some other provider that you might recommend?

It's probably automated. You did cancel.

Depends what Be need to do to have more capacity - that's something only they can answer. I'd never suggest BT Retail as an ISP though.
