Wondering if anyone has or does live in Glossop, Derby?

Have to change my stations withing Greater Manchester to City Central and have been told by a few of the crews that they commute from Glossop everyday and it seems to be a rather nice place to live?

Looking to rent down there, and travel in the days I'm working.
I'm from North Wales so anything green, hilly, mountain like is good in my eyes! Fancy a nice little cottage with a open fire and that's me happy!

It'd a bit close to Manc for my liking, but not too bad as stuff close to Manc goes.

I'd say it's on the wrong side of the hills, but as you're currently living in a foreign country anything is an improvement :p

Isnt that where they filmed the league of gentlemen, also know as Royston Vasey?

I went there and thought it was nice and quiet.

No, that was filmed in Hadfield, though that isn't too far from Glossop.

Quiet sounds good, nice country pubs and plenty of places to go mountain biking, climbing etc would be nice, mates cottage has a trout lake next to it :p

Close it good as I don't fancy a hrs drive after 12hr+ shift, just don't much fancy living in a big city that's all, a quiet bit of green will do me fine!

Bad news is I have to attent Manchester City games, but I do get a nice time and a half to watch the city get beat!

Watching city  that's just cruel :D

I can try and get some United games, but the Salford group get thoose pretty much covered well in advance :(

On the plus side I do get to see AC Milan taken on City :p
and I'll just not give anyone blue pain relief :p .

Another plus is again I'll get paid to go see concerts which is always a plus!

Glossop to manchester?

******** nightmare, probably only 10 miles or so but it's one queue all the way there in the morning (apart from a quick burn down the m67 for a few miles). manchester to glossop is worse, during the day you will queue from the end of the m67 all the way through into glossop, after 3 oclock you get a huge queue that starts spreading down the m67, and at 5 oclock it can take you 20 mins if lucky or 45 mins+ on a bad day just to get off the m67 and then start the usual nose to tail snail crawl right into glossop. you will want to set yourself on fire just to stop the pain of having a car and not being able to move it even though you are on a freekin road.

but dont take my word for it, take a little drive down the m67 to glossop at 4:30/5 oclock when all the school kids are back :)

/edit, if you're on the train then no probs :D

/edit2, i'm all angry now after reenacting that drive

What's it like if I was setting off from Central Manchester at around 6.30pm or 7.30pm, would I be hitting clear roads?

Same going for setting off around 6am and 7am?
