No the current folding client code doesn't take into account the architectural changes in the 4800 series of cards. Plus its still a long way from being optimised yet.
Nvidia is a better bet for folding since they are getting better performance with the 8000 series cards and above than ati are currently.

The GPU folding client is being updated so that the 4850 /4870 game performance lead over the 3870 cards is also duplicated in terms of increased folding performance as well.
