For those who arnt sure about the Akasa Neo Vortex cooler

Pics please :D

Once I get the jobs on the wife's list that I've been lumbered with out of the way, I'll get them installed and post some pics up. There is a pic already posted somewhere here showing two vortex coolers fitted on Xfired 4850 with both Xfire connectors attached so that shouldn't be an issue.:)

Thanks, I'll have a hunt, ordered a 4850 the day before yesterday but cancelled it because I spotted the 1GB version for pre-order and want to wait to see what difference the extra memory makes.

Okies, got them both installed, took me about an hour and a bit to do as I took me time and slapped some heatsinks on the both sets of vrm's on both cards. Also running the fans at 7volts using a coupla akasa fan supply adapter cables.
I was idling at 65c in this heat today, and I'm now idling at 42c and 44c for both cards, theres also no appreciable increase in noise that I can hear. Theres only one issue that I can see though is that if you want run with tqwo Xfire interconnects, you're gonna have remove a small bit of plastic moulding from the upper mounted cooler as this tends to "tighten" the ribbon cable as it passes over it.

Do those gold heatsinks come with it? Or did you buy them seperately? :)

They're actually aluminium painted to look like copper unfortunately. they were from an old giabyte mobo's northbridge cooler. I just hacked it in half and both bits seem to fit reasonably well over the smaller components mouted to the rear of the vrms. I also used some akasa thermal tape as I didn't trust the tape that came with the coolers. It might ok to use it but I didn't want to have to faff around with it.

The temps have crept up a little bit to 46c and 47c since these coolers were fitted. Not bad considering the heat in this room is high AND the fact that the fans are only at 7v. I'm tempted to remove the voltage adaters and see what the noise level/cooling performance is later on today.:)
