¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Recently I've been cycling to work as we've got some sun (for once).

I was wondering how many calories I would burn doing approx 25 miles? It's not very hilly, but not flat either, and I'm using a road bike (if this makes any difference). Avridge speed I'm guessing between 12-18 mph.

I only ask as I've just consumed a massive pizza and now can't move. :(

Difficult to say as there are so many variables. You should not forget that individuals will burn calories at different rates according to their metabolisms.

Before i injured my knee i cycled quite a bit, probadly averaging around 175 miles a week over the summer months. I reckon Rotty's not too far off at 750 cals or about 30 a mile.

Going off Mapmyride's calorie counter, todays ride home, 14 miles in 45 min burned 640 calories.
Not a flat ride home and into a head wind at points. averaged around 160bpm and hit 110rpm in places, plus it was damn hot.

A 22 mile ride done at low work effort ie keeping the heart rate around 135bpm, for the hour and 35 mins it recons i burnt 1300 calories.

Its all dependant on height, weight, BMI, phase of the moon and if you slaughtered a goat or chicken at the altar of pain!

Hehe, I guess there are sooo many variables, but even tho it's mostly downhill on the way to work, it's mostly uphill on the way back so I guess it sorta cancels out... :)

Anyway, I found it far easier today, less pain cranking up the hills. Hopefully tomorrow will be nice weather again, it only takes around 10mins longer than the car, and I feel better after the exercise. :)
