The Dark Knight, Ultra Mega Hype Thread

Only 4 hours to go for me!

Though I meant to watch Begins last night in anticipation, but forgot :(

Am trying not to build the film up in my mind, but it's hard. Shoudl have avoided readng any reviews whatsoever.

No spoilers so you’re safe to read on. ;) Managed to view this film on big screen, and pleased to say I enjoyed it very much!

Just as he did with ‘Batman Begins’ the director produced the goods, avoiding that potential tag of ‘mindless action film’. Worthy of all this 'omg Heath deserves an Oscar' malarkey, imo short answer; no. However he does a great job of giving his take of Joker such a maniacal edge of un-predictability, so unstable and yet a genius of destruction, and it works so well. There are some truly great moments during this film involving Joker that will bring a smile, especially one within first half hour of the film; rare cinematic magic and made everyone chuckle. :)

Joker aside an entertaining film, high quality acting with very strong supporting cast, good script, some shock moments and great set pieces. So, better than Batman Begins; yes, imo probably the best comic to the big screen adaptation to date, by a fair distance.

Enjoy :)

I just saw it...I wanna see it again...It completes me :p

Nahhh it was very good - the best bit for me - in all seriousness - was the score, just melted just into the background where you dont really notice it but just added that depth to what was happening on screen - it was astounding. Dont really want to comment on the rest since I think the guys above have said a lot of what Im thinking. Though I agree that this film is as much to do with Batman and who/what he is and what hes becoming than just having the Joker as his arch-nemesis...

Its up there with Usual Suspects and Shawshank Redemption for me - cant fault it one bit (well theres a couple of mistakes/continuity errors :p)

Ill be watching it again for sure...

Have to agree about the score. Was just going to comment in the other thread about it. Think I might actually buy the soundtrack. Not sure how well it will work outside the context of the film though.

Then again, I have bought a fair few film soundtracks which are wonderful to listen to.

Literally just watched it, one of the best films i've ever seen. Ledger was incredible, funny and deeply disturbed, perfectly timed. All the rest of the cast was great. Actually looks makes Begins look mediocre in comparison. In fact it felt like a completely different kind of film to Begins.

Only thing I would fault is the length, feel they could have shaved 20-30 minutes off oh and **********SPOILER********* Harveys eye :p

Basicly this, great movie but at the two hour mark i was starting to get concious of the time, it doesn't drag on at all, just suprises you that there's yet more to come, so the end of the movie seemed a tad 'jumpy' to me. Otherwise it's the best film i have seen in a long time.

I feel like hyping it a bit before bed.

GO AND WATCH IT, IT'S ******* AMAZING!!1oneoenone :D :D :D :D :D

Seriously, it is so so so so good. ;) Heath Ledger was simply stunning, he really made the film. And echoing the comments about it making Batman Begins look mediocre, it really does. :p

repost (originally and incorrectly in GD, but now hijacked by nutters, unfortunately :) ):

saw it with the g/f tonight. booked tickets online Tuesday, was amazed that any were available for Thursday evening!

It was very good, CB did very well, there's nowhere near enough of Michael Caine or Morgan Freeman in it, imo. The show belongs to the late Heath Ledger, rip, I can see that the Oscar chatter is not mere sympathy. He was simply phenomenal as the Joker. It is a very well written part, and played to perfection by HL.

Extra points for the brilliant score, the music really kept the pace alive. I was in two minds, tbh, the g/f couldn't wait but I suspect she's into Christian Bale. She loved the last CB Batman outing, and I thought it was rank. My concerns (about the movie, though not Mr. Bale) were alleviated however. Its well worth catching. And the toys!!! Honourable mention to the bat-cloak, bike, car/mobile, lamborghini, etc. Wish I had his toys, and his money!!

On the downside, Maggie Gyllenhaal (how does she get work?) - enough said. Just not believable that his batness and the DA of GC are in bits over her, or how anyone could be for that matter. Totally lacking charisma, but I acknowledge that this is a highly subjective pov.

Its also a long-un (phnarr) at >2hrs, but there are only moments when you feel it - bear in mind we went to a 9pm showing after work on Thursday so there's some fatigue to consider.

All in all: disengage brain, strap-in, enjoy.

Just got back from seeing it,.
The Joker was everything he needed to be, a true psychopath as portrayed in the comics.

The bit with Joker hanging his head out of the car was very surreal!

Watching it at fact tomorrow in liverpool , 5 35 showing. Then onto the town to get troll eyed. In two minds whether to drink or not whilst watching the film, as i dont want to have to leave the cinema for a urination. Maybe i can attach a plastic bottle to my wang using string or elastic band in a concealed way. Then i can drink whilst being entertained by the dark Knight. Or maybe i just wont drink .

watched it last night, good film
Heath Ledger as The Joker was awesome , he was at his best, shame he wont be around to get the credit he deserves for the role.
Christian Bale as batman, i dont think so

Got back too late to really write anything last night.
This film just rocks!

The cast is perfect and any fears that this Joker would be "too different" are lost the first time you meet him.
Bale was excellent as were the whole cast really.
The characters were acted so well it really felt like I was again reading those early Batman comics.

As near perfect as a film can get.

You should just about get in - the film only has a 12A certificate.
Sorry, after reading your post I got past the word "Showing" and then decided that the rest of the post was written by a 14 year old.

You gave him more credit than me - then again he could be an old bloke with a weak bladder - try and source a catheter ;)
