It's official, Glasgow East, once safe Labour seat, is now SNP (just).

So, will this be enough to persuade Gordon Brown to fall (figuratively) on his sword, or for someone else to attempt an eviction?

I'm admittedly slightly left of centre politically myself, but even I'd like to see a change at the top, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. ;)

Good, I'm glad.
Perhaps after all the by-election defeats they have suffered recently they may just start to take some notice of the people that put them in power!!
(I'm not talking about the unelected gibbering buffoon inside No.10:p)

Alas, who knows how much more damage they could do to the country before they get voted out.:o

Blimey! this despite NuLabour screwing over an English shipyard (Barrow) in favour of the Clyde for the new aircraft carriers. Labour's Scottish power-grab really isn't working out too well is it?

Disaster. Considering something like 96% of people in this constituency would rather there nationality was Scottish than British. Cue Alex Salmond claiming this is vindication that the whole country wants independence.

Excellent result, a strong kicking for the scottish PM in a normally safe labour seat might actually make him stop, think and listen...

Ah, who am I kidding, there's about as much chance of Brown being a competent PM as there is of a three legged blind horse winning the grand national... While dead.

He didn't need the election for him to think that, I've never seen someone look so smug. I can't believe anyone would think independence was a good thing.

good that labour got a kick in the ********, bad that it was to the SNP.

thank god I'm leaving

Great news! Damned recount meant i didnt see the result live.

To anyone who thinks SNP wins are bad dont be too downhearted, I agree, most people probably dont want independence, it will almost certiainly be a protest vote against labour. At least if the snp do win enough times they will put it to a referendum and we can put the issue to bed once and for all. Its something they just cannot do via the back door, as with so many things under labour have been. And if they mess up Scotland...well in that case TORY, TORY ALLELIUA!!!!!!
