Just got my aquagratix water blocks today, will test tomorrow, but im not sure if my water cooling will handle them, awaiting a 2x120 rad to add to loop and regassing of my climate control chiller i finished making, will try 2 2x120 rads first then my chiller alone:D

Wife called to say mine arrived this morning as well :-)

Kind of off topic but I'm suprised you need all that extra cooling hardware - my BI pro 240, hydor l30, fuzion v2 are keeping my oc'd q6600 under 50c load @ 1.56vcore quite happily. Should easily handle a 4870 as it was keeping the same rig cool with a 8800gtx aquagrafx block.

Plus, adding a 2nd radiator in series has shown not to make that much of an improvement - i.e. you'd be better swapping two 120 rads for a single 240, two 240's for a single 360 etc.

I have 2 4870's to cool along with a E8200, i doubt my thermaltake 240 rad would handle this, i have a friend who is sending me his old 240 rad this week. i will try his rad along with mine in loop then try my chiller without rads to see how they perform, i know my chiller will work a treat but im awaiting another friend to vacuum and regass it(probably over weekend). Im itching to try my 4870 waterblocks see lol

Ok, these blocks are rubbish - main problems:-

1: Instructions - doesn't tell you where to fit the thermal pads supplied.
2: Finish - machine swirl marks all over that you can actually feel with your finger inc the area that would contact the gpu.
3: Screw holes - no stand offs. It's possible to bend the card by tightening the screws to tight, i.e. there is a screw hole either end of the vregs meaning if you tighten then up too much, the card bows and lifts away from the middle regs.
4: No clearance for the three large main components (don't know what there called but I think they're ceramic) that are between the ram chips and the vregs - I've actually killed the card because when I tightened the screws one of the said compnents sheared across once corner - pc now sits at "vga bios" on the lcd poster.

Not at all happy - no where near the quality of the 8800gtz block I got from the same company so I've now ordered two EK full cover blocks instead.

i thought the finish could have been smoother myself, there is a "rise" on the gpu cooling part, maybe this is there on purpose to suit card?
I also found lack of stand offs a problem, i noticed card flexing under screw tension so i slacked them off a little, INSTRUCTIONS on thermal pads are not accurate , ie says nothing about them ,but the picture shows you where they go,did you not add them? if so that might be part you broke.Think in future ill stick with english companys as i cant login to forums there as in german so i cant ask questions about quality etc. Top of coolers have A1 quality only the contacts between block and memsinks etc could be better, but as long as it cools im happy.
Currently i have installed just one block as im awaiting the crossfire adapter to arrive, and am having problems finding fittings for my hose

i bought 2 ek ones ordered wedneday they arrived today from slovakia at 4pm , instructions are great and clear and the block is well made, could do to be a bit more shiney on the GPU contact part but use some wet/dry if its a problem , it also mentions about using little pressure when tightening the screws on the ALU power reg cooler.

Sounds like I've made the right choice in going for the EK blocks then :-)

Result! AquaComputers are sending me a replacement 4870 pre-fitted with one of thier waterclocks :-)

I have to send my broken card and water block back first though, which is to be expected.

im wondering if they milled there slots out of place, think its the voltage regs(the tall ones they want pads on).It was tricky but i got them aligned but dont like the fact screws are not fully tight, ie not against standoffs

Well im still awaiting my Variable SLI VGA Connector 2 Slot from ocuk, i ordered 2 and they sent one 2 slot and one 1 slot:rolleyes:,sent back incorrect one and still one week await arrival of correct purchased fitting, very annoying as i want this rig finished, i never complained about P&P it cost me to return there mistake(especially when guy on phone said he would send out correct one that day friday 25th).

I have phoned aqua computer and said i want refund on these coolers and adapter, i waited ages for adapter and whilst i was waiting i tried one cooler, it cooled ok but i wasnt happy with the fit so i removed and refitted stock cooler, they were trying to say its strange it doesnt fit etc, also he admitted they said in first batch instructions"use thermal pads on selected areas" but on phone he told me this wasnt required. either way they admitted they didnt give good enough instructions etc, im sending back and await refund then ill order some other blocks.I informed him i could only tighten a few threads on screws without the card started to warp, i stated that copper is a soft material and the possibility of threads stripping is high, this would cause cooler to seperate from card and overheat gpu etc.
Did you get refund yet m8?

Sorry for the late reply - yes I got a refund and a replacement card a couple of weeks ago.

EK blocks since ordered and fitted - much happier :-)
