Refurbed Acer laptop - Hasn't been wiped...

My mate's just bought a refurbed Acer laptop...

It hasn't been wiped, so still has the previous owners (interesting) photos and videos on...

I suspect you could probably sue Acer over that!!

Just how interesting photos? I would open OE, or look into docs- could have thing like a CV or contact address or phone number, find the email and email the previous owner, saying you've received refurb and got all his doc on it.

Get your mate to contact Acer and say he's really not happy with receiving a laptop that clearly hasn't been refurbed properly and hint you might go to the computer press with your complaint if they don't do anything about it. They might send him a top of the range laptop as compensation.

If you go into the browser loggon defaults are still there for sites etc.

I'd do that ACER won't want that all over computer weekly so will probably compensate!

I bought a supposedly new NAS box from ****** recently, which includes a 250GB drive. When I got it home, the packaging looked like it had been already taken out of the box. I ran partition recovery software on it and found various episodes of Lost and a considerable amount of JSG porn.

I took it back and wrangled a replacement NAS, 500GB version, for no extra charge! I like it when people screw-up :cool:

My advice? Use your situation to obtain compensation! Why not?

Acer suck

My last job had a contract with Acer to supply TFT screens, the contact got cancelled due to the crap quality and the fact it took you three days of calling them repeatedley to actually get through to report a fault

Seriously, just try to get in touch with the previous owner and try to discreetly let the girl know what happened. Don't post anything because you wouldn't like to be that girl or her dad knowing someone on the internet exposed her.

Perhaps login to a site that's her username and say "i've got your acer laptop with your docs" and should be fairly obvious if you login with her username.
