Silent 120mm replacement fan for Scythe Ninja?

Long story short, I ended up switching my motherboard from a DS3 to P5Q-E after about two years and now the CPU fan is running too loud/fast/etc.

These are the facts as I know them:

The default Scythe Ninja fan is meant to run at 1200rpm.

However, the DS3 runs it as 700-900rpm for whatever reason and it is absolutely silent. I've tested this with two DS3s in two different setups and for whatever reason it does this on purpose.

The P5Q-E runs it at the full 1200rpm and it's so loud I just took it out and I'm running with no CPU fan, which I'm sure won't go down well gaming on a hot day. Asus' Q-Fan speed thing won't work at all with a 3 pin fan, so it's stuck at 1200rpm.

So does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement fan that is absolutely silent (except for the sound of moving air) at full speed? A 4 pin connector so that Q-Fan can adjust it might be nice too.

plug it into one of the 3pin conectors on the board will allow speedfan to control it

£15 for a fan! I'm sure you can get a similar performance fan for less than that

Nope, best there is for Perf/Noise Ratio bar non PERIOD.

Connect the CPU fan as a chassis fan instead of a CPU fan. Qfan will then be able to reduce the fan speed. It brings my yate loon medium from 1600 to 1150.

Yate Loon/Nexus will offer better value for money than Noctua, Noctua are only for those who can afford the cost

120mm fans need to be around 1000rpm be silent, the yate loon slowest stock fan is 1300. In open air it might be silent at 1300, but once you put it near a grill/heatsink things change.

If you dont want to spend so much then get Sharkoon Silent Eagles the 1000 models are silent and if you get the 2000 model and run it off a fan controller / motherboard its silent @ 1000RPM and can give you some cooling power @ 2000 RPM
