BEST GFX FOR 100 QUID??

Gainward ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail

£111.61 inc VAT

highly advisable to pay the £11 extra, the performance gain is quite noticeable.

Edit
=====Beaten to It======

No he wouldn't, that is the best card for £100, the 4850 is the best for £111. :p

He would though, for 11 quid extra he can get a 4850 which is a lot faster, not just 11 quid faster, second hand GT's are around 65 or less now I'd get second hand GT OR 4850.

I know the 4850 is a lot better than the GT, i never said it wasn't, i just answered the question correctly, the best card for £100 is the 8800 GT, id agree with getting the 4850 for only £11 more though. :D

I think you gave the wrong answer bearing in mind some people really have no ideal about these matters, if you wanted to give the best advice you should have pimped a used 8800GT first followed by a HD4850 for £11 over budget followed by a new 8800GT.

I know you were having a laugh but that guy could have bought the card you suggested and that wouldn't have been good! :o

4850 is a lot faster than an 8800GT. Forget the £11 difference.

Also bear in mind your 8800GT will be worth £55 tops in a few weeks whereas the 4850 will still be worth around £75-85.

When the newer Nvidia & ATI cards hit the market (in the next month) the lower spec 2nd hand ones will drop in value again.

Already you can get an 8800GTX for around £70-80 2nd hand so do you really want to buy old tech (basically any 8 series card). Remember that all current Nvidia cards lack DX10.1 features. This is important as the upcoming DX11 will support DX10.1

4850 also has working screen scaling (this has been broken on the 8 series for ages).

Shader based AA on the 4850 means you can get almost performance free AA.

Your minimum FPS will also be much higher. Do a search on these forums for 4850 or 4870 as you will see loads of threads telling you why it is the only viable choice at the moment if you want the best value & performance.

Loadsamoney is female and a bored housewife.

I knew it all along.

Best card for 100 and he states a 8800GT?

ONly a women would do such a thing and not see the bigger picture and offer the OP the advice he needed.

*handbags at the ready*

Well he saw the bigger picture ...just chose to be 'jokingly pedantic'.
