My XJR vs 335d (holy ****)

A lad at work has the 335D se and its a very nice motor (and thats coming from a E90 hater!),It certainly does feel flipping fast, and looking at the performance figures, it is quick. His is 9 months old and its returning 44 to the gallon, which is acceptable.

Then again, its a 34k car so it should be quick:p

Dont they average around 32MPG? That isnt so good ;)

The 535d average around 26mpg if driven quickly, I had one for a week and thought something must be wrong with it however checking some forums this is generally the average most get. A blast down my usual back road and it was almost in the teens. Not great for a typical diesel however it has similiar in gear performance to a 545i which would probaly be getting under 20mpg in the same circumstances.

the 335 is very quick, especially in that 30 to 90 stint, it's got somthing like 400lbft of torque and while it is 290hp stock, a quick remap see's you getting even more torque and 300 + hp, it's that torque that makes for very quck real world pace, you just put your foot down and your shooting forward, a high hp car will of course catch you up, but on the road getting the nod over someone usually comes down to speed of reactions, foot down car shooting forward will usually win out over foot down car picking up pace then comming on song and shooting forward
