Opinions on this? Which would you choose out of the coupe / cabrio?

Any known issues with them / is it worth the price difference over the standard TT? :)

If it's the old one you may as well just buy a pink dress and handbag over the cabrio, it'd have the same effect to your masculinity :(

The new ones are still hairdressers cars.
Or if not female you must be wearing tight leather trousers and aviators, ooh and a bluetooth earpiece to drive it and fit in with the other male tt drivers.

I've got one on order due sept - it's not going to be for everyone but it's quick, good looking and has the best interior you'll find this side of 50K in a sports car. If you can't put up with turbo lag, run a mile - the engine is virtually the same as that in the S3.

I was looking at a standard 2.0T but if you want to add options like mag ride, 19" wheels etc. you can easily get it up to the TT-S price. The base TT-s spec is v good and if you are careful with extras residuals should be pretty good.

Drivers republic are doing a comparison vs. the Cayman which should be on the website in the next couple of days, should make interesting reading.

I like the vast majority of Audi's but I really don't think that the TT's have shunned their

Image. Yes the new gen look a lot better but I still can't help thinking that the driver bat's for the other team whenever I see men driving them. I feel the same about blokes driving Mini's but to hell with what everybody else thinks/says as long as you are happy :).

Hi there

I came across one on the road few days ago, wondered what it was, certainly looked nice from all angles. Can't really tell you if it was quick as he tried it on but I was in evil mood and just did one but slightly unfair as I have 250BHP more. :D

However I'd hazard that as nice as the TT-s it wil be no rival to a Cayman well at least not in the handling states. Cayman and CSL are very closely matched and handle superb. An Audi TT-s I severly doubt will hold a candle to either of them when it comes to handling, but probably not far off the pace in a straight line.

Read a review of it (sure it was Evo) that said it, whilst good, was too expensive and was now playing in Boxster/Cayman territory, which were better all-round alternatives.

Still think the "basic" 2.0T TT is the best of the bunch. Guy at work has one in white and it does look the shizzle.

The S3 doesn't really suffer from turbo lag, it has a high boost threshold (meaning no turbo at low RPM) but it doesn't lag.

I'd be interested to see a TT-S on the rollers, given the 2.0TFSI's habit of producing more than stock (by a fair bit) in the other cars.

Its a Very nice car, but really only worth having if you plan to Revo it, they will take it to around 310 bhp with very little turbo lag.

I would have had one if it was around 5 to 7k cheaper and if the leather was of better quality.

I think after a visit to revo it will keep up with the Cayman and a 3.0 Z4.

I test drove the basic 2.0T and I cant say I was impressed at all, boring and slow!

I don't really see how Boxster/Cayman are better alternatives - yes they might edge it on the track but for everything else? Yes price wise it is lining up with the Porsche base price but as soon as you try speccing a Porsche to what you want, you're screwed (try the online config yourself)

I'm looking forward to what DR have to say - Chris Harris was a big fan of the TT-s, I don't expect it to be on a par handling wise but overall i think it should be competitive in terms of pace

At the end of the day - i wanted a car to suit my needs, and a TT-S does so perfectly, if i wanted a car for fun/weekend driving i might have looked at it differently!

They have a considerably better engine. Yes, turbocharging 2 litre 4 pots works but not for cars with a £34k price tag. A premium vehicle should have a premium engine.

This is why, IMHO, the BMW 335i, Porsche Cayman and friends are all cars which would be higher up my list if I was spending this sort of money.

It's a lot of cash to spend for a car with the same engine, fundamentally, is an £18k Seat Leon.

Should be a twin turbo 6 pot however even as standard the TT-S is a fast car it just doesn't feel it as the engine doesn't make the right noises or have the shove in the back as the torque doesn't come in with a bang. It can touch 100 in 13 seconds and 60 in a little over 5 seconds I would have thought thats quicker than a 3L Z4 and on par with a Cayman. (S3 is not far behind either with 0-100 in 13.6 seconds)
