Catalyst 8.7's released 21/07/08

I have had 9800 non pro, x1900xtx and my 3870 that i have now and never had 1 problem with my official ati drivers. It can't be all just luck.

8.7 are no go with my crossfire, work fine with single card.

I had to uninstall, boot to safe mode, run driver cleaner then reinstall the 8.7 to get rid of the 8.7 beta totally. All fine now though.

. If I've only built one system with 4870s in Crossfire with zero problems then that is all I have to relate to and as I already mentioned I didn't properly read through the problems others were having.

grid doesnt work on 8.6 hotfix or 8.7 for me maybe you HAVE to install CCC with the hotfix drivers to get grid to work ?
how comes some people are using 8.7 and grid works fine then ? are you using ccc ?

Hmm, that's a weird one :confused:

. Hopefully the CCC can be bypassed for single card users as I know I've never enjoyed using it. ATI Tray Tools only and I'd be happy. I'm sure I've seen someone say that the 4 series cards aren't supported by ATI Tray Tools yet so maybe that is causing the problem? (if you are using ATI Tray Tools that is).

Grid working on 8.6 hotfix but you must install and use ccc with it.

Well I almost tried 3.8 catalyst or something.

I'm waiting for catalyst 9.8 now.

I wish the fan could be fixed and have rivatuner support, if I wanted to be by the sea I would go to a seaside resort not sit at my PC listning to the sound of a HD4870 cooler that sounds just like the waves.

It is expensive for me at the moment I cant go under £100 in my bank, if I do I cant get another bank account so I have no monies.

carried mine over from my 8800gt nice to get 2 cards worth of s1 for £15
so I am on hotfix 8.6 installing just the driver and ccc so I can get grid to work I have disabled ati hotkey in services and unticked the ccc in msconfig /startup
and i am running ati tray tool so I can use vsync just to let you know all good now

Will just leave it on auto, mine is on auto with 790/1100 and is rock solid, silent too =)

i tried grid ran fine on all the drivers ive used since getting the 4850.infact every gamer has on all drivers.wish theyre would have been a fan fix in it though

8.7's are now running flawlessly for me, turns out my bsods were due to the fact my cpu heatsink had somehow managed to unhinge itself from the mobo. Anyway it's resolved =) Odd though that bsod codes all pointed to a defective vid driver =/

Try installing just the driver and no ccc and see if it works ?
as I said it doesn't work on either driver unless you install ccc

Can someone tell me how you wack up fan speed with 8.7 drivers? I edited the xml file as you did with 8.6 but it hasnt worked!

Yes I have been able to which is a relief. I thought it was definitely hardware after I did two fresh installs and kept getting bsods =P Thought it was the memory so opened up the case and to my surprise the cpu heatsink wasn't exactly secure :eek:

I honestly can't believe the cpu didn't throttle or burn out especially since it's oc'd but these wolfdales are very sturdy.

You know this issue with dual monitors? Does it also cause problems where in games the screen goes black maybe once or twice etc..? If so when I am thinking I might be unstable I might infact not be.

Yes, lucky everything is ok. It's a big relief when the problem is found and fixed
