Similar here, take car in for service, garage puts in whatever oil it's supposed to have, car comes back from garage

I honestly have no idea. I don't even have a dipstick. I push a button on the dash and it tells me the oil level. I fail.

Because thats not the purpose i started the thread for.

I know what oil im going to buy ive already researched this.

I was just curious if people buy the premium brand oils or cheap brand for their cars.

Magnetec is sometimes semi-synth or mineral I believe - if so it could be bad news (must be fully synth for the BMWs).

I use Mobil 1 0w40, 19.99+VAT for 4l from Costco.

Do these engines really not have a dipstick? Mine has an automated readout on the dash too, but there is still a dipstick for emergency use. Never needed to use it but i guess its there in the event of the sensor failing or something.
