I just read another of those idiotic 9/11 tinfoil hat threads and saw it was closed, I laughed out loud with glee.

Now, freedom of speech and political correctness would say this is a bad thing, but sheer common sense makes it a good decision.

Can you imagine if our politicians thought like this? i.e. used good old common sense

Political correctness has diddly to do with it really, freedom of speech would be the only thing to suggest that those threads shouldn't be closed and the simple fact that they have been debated here before repeatedly means that there isn't a huge amount of point in doing so again.

The idea of most people on here having any power over my life is not something I'd welcome, that isn't anything especially against the folks who post here, I just generally think that the less influence other people have over my life the better. Particularly given I wouldn't trust most politicians as far as I could throw them - does power corrupt or does it just attract the sort of person who would naturally have an inclination to be corrupt? I'm not sure but there is a certain correlation to my mind and whether chicken or egg came first the end result is the same.
