Anyone recommend me one? i bought one from a competitor a few months back but the delivery driver stole it (long story short basically) so i am after another one

Most places who stock them shouldn't be competitors i don't think so hopefully this is aloud :)

need it to cool a fairly large room with a big TV, PC, large monitor creating constant heat

I found a 15,000BTU one for £200 "Amcor PCM15000KEH" but have no idea if its any good

looking for something £200 and under really

EDIT: forgot to mention i only require cooling capability, doesn't require any other gadgets

I know nothing about air cons, but surely the deliveryman who robbed it got caught? and if you have proof that you havent recieved the product then surely they have to send you a replacement?

lol did he beat you up or something?

Not heard of that one, I got this massive one from Homebase for about £450 think its 15k BTU or more I am not sure. Does the job for 20+ PCs in a room so something similar should do for you!

You need to have an exit for the heat from the pipe though.

I would say if you see one of these (or even looks like this) http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wc...t>AIR&c_1=1|cat_10308082|Air+coolers|10524658 don't bother, a metal blade fan would do miles better.

Check the bay as well to fit your budget.

*edit* a basic guide is here http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wc...uideCmd?langId=-1&storeId=20001&bgTrail=00021

Long story about the one that got stolen, basicly a mistake by me combined with the driver being on the ball that morning, lesson learnt though ill tell you that!

Cheers for the guide zain, a 12000/15000BTU one could probably sit in the hall and cool the entire flat!

Though i think any 9000 or maybe even lower would do for cooling just the living room in the warm evenings and then cooling the bedroom ready for sleep

can you tell us what the mistake was ? just so you can make sure other people are wise to it so they dont get scammed

I need an aircon for where I live. A standard size room but has a TV, PC and two people living in it.

Also, I'm three stories high so the heat is pretty un-bearable. Not a great deal of space to put a massive unit or anything.

I would be interested if anyone has a good machine to recomend to me and the OP and if so provide a link :)

I’ve just found an old one that is similar to the one I posted but without the need to fill it with water!

The air cooler is PROLINE SAC100EW-U and it gives out very cool air, which is saving me from melting. Though you just need an exit for all the hot air with the pipe provided.

I think this cost about £250 3 years ago so should be about £200 now.

I would have said before but i feel like an idiot for having done it... basicly mr delivery man came to my door holding the box with the ventilation tube and his signing paper, i said to him "is there another package on the van" he said no its coming seperately today

now not having lived on my own for long and only ever signing for the odd delivery i hadnt thought to check that the signing sheet said "Quantity: 2" on the packages section, once id signed the sheet and he drove off that was that, no chance ill ever see it now or get my money back :(

But hey ho lesson learnt, i know for a fact ill never make that mistake again

I have an Amcor 1200BTU air con. It can cool down to 18c and keeps the room nice and cold but is very noisy like most air con units will be.

I don't think it will cool a whole flat as it needs to vent the heat from the room via the hose so other rooms will still be full of heat.

I take it you have to put one bit outiside?

If so, not very good for an upstairs bedroom!

You get window straps for them i have been told.

I suppose you could put it in a spare bedroom or bath room and vent the heat in to there and leave the window open

omg gutted, that's real unlucky

i'd be calling the delivery company, it's your word against his but still (others may have complained)

how much power do these things use up? i'm assuming a fairly large ammount..

You need to speak to the delivery company... What the guy did is called theft!

went through a long complaints thing with city-link and the competitor bledd. :(

got me no where, by the time it got to where i was trying to get, the "competitor" had taken so long that the delivery guy when interviewed was able to just say "cant remember, that was over a month ago" and they said fair enough to that :/

I do wonder if they have a route trace that the van may have taken? perhaps they could trace it to him making an irregular stop at his own house or something, but even then its his word against mine and he would simply deny all knowledge while they shove a signed piece of paper in my face

The amount i lost is £145 over it (well... i lost £90 the missus lost £50 as we were splitting the cost)

From what ive gathered from guides 1000BTU is pretty much 1p/hr so 9000BTU = 9p/hr (or near to)

Get your money back!! How long ago was it?

If you paid by credit card or kicked up a fuss you would have got your money back. You should have complained and also called the police and told them about his lies about a package coming later on.

Please tell me you did something about this and didn't just let it go?

I've done many things to try and sort it, granted not quite as extreme as going to the police but i have made multiple complaints to city link and the competitor, Ive let my manager speak to them on the phone (always a winner, hes Australian, doesn't take any **** haha)

They tried there hardest to brush me off with constant replies of "you signed the order, its like a contract and nothing more can be done" but eventually pushed them to get to the point where they initiated there internal investigations, interviewing the driver and so on which came to nothing

It was back in may that i ordered it, to be fair Ive completely given up on it now and have resigned to calling it a lesson well and truly learnt
