XBL Silver offers Free Online Play

If you have a silver XBL membership it now looks like you can play some games online for free. Apparantely this only works for games that can be played cross platform between PC and Xbox.

So far it only works for these games but someone on the xbox forums says it works for COD4 as well.

Lost Planet: Colonies

I haven't tried it myself as I have a gold membership.

This would be class as I have level 55 in cod4 on the pc but on the xbox im only like 23 or something, would be handy if I can just use my pc profile.

I think your misunderstanding, this has nothing to do with sharing COD4 profiles across platforms.

Great news if they are making online gaming free to all.

Seems like it's more than just the cross platform games from that thread you linked.

i highly doubt cod4 would turn cross platform with it not being a games for windows title

imo cod4 plays very differently on the xbox to the way it does on pc

It would be great if they made the best sellers free online after a set amount of time (GoW, Halo 3, RB6 etc).

I hope the whole thing doesn't end up free though as you'll get even more retards online than there are now and a huge drop in the quality of the service.

I've heard this works with all cross platform titles on 360 but nothing other than that.

I think sony are like crack dealers, they will give you something for cheap or free to get you hooked. Then once they have the consumer base in place they will whack on the charges. At first it will be only a fiver or something, but after they start charging. They will start telling you why its important for you to contribute more and how much more you are receiving in comparison to how it was free.

Not really, Live will always be better than PSN because Microsoft included a headset with their console and it feels like an online service.

I'm a PC gamer and I don't mind paying the small price for Xbox Live.

so i found this out and solved the problem

games for windows live is now free on pc [did ms really think pc owners would start paying to play online?]

which means xplatform [pc-360] games are also capable of playing in the same manner to make it fair

after all...
both 360 owners who still play shadow run would kick off at ms about the pc owner who plays shadowrun suddently getting it for free

It's no good quoting that. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the number of times Sony has gone back on statements like that regarding the PS3.
