Roundup is pretty good as it kills the roots but doesn't affect the soil in the long term. I use it if I have to reort to herbicides.
Best to buy it as concentrated liquid & mix as per the instructions. Get a seperate watering can for this instead of using your regular one (if you have one).
My garden was covered in clover, used some stuff (can't remember the name) and it didnt do anything. In the end i went to a company called www.lawnhopper.co.uk and they sorted it nicely for me for £30. Not a weed in sight and the grass looks superb. They'll be coming round 3 / 4 times a year from now on to keep it looking lovely .
