Hi Guys,

Recently I have bought and built my first pc and I am beggining to regret it. Incredibly frequently I am receiving different blue screens, ranging from KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR to System was trying to ...blah blah blah and i am getting seriosly p***ed off. My specs are as follows

Asus P5K Premium Wifi
Antec 900
EVGA 8800GT
Samsung 22" thingy magigy
Intel Q9450
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 PC2-8500C5 (2X1GB)
Corsair TX 650W
Samsung Spinpoint F1 500GB
Noctua NH-U12P heatsink
Asus Disc Drive

A little extra info. This happens mainly when trying to install games or transfer data from my external drive, i realise this points towards me HDD but i have run the manufacters' tools and it says everything is fine, i have resteated and relocated all SATA cables (may be dodgy cable though). Also COD4 seems slower at loading maps than it was on vista. (I had vista ultimate edition but i thought that was the problem so i am now running XP pro)

It may be a drivers issue but i have no idea how to fix it. I realise all u tekkies are busy etc but i really really need ** help before i take a axe to my pc.

Many Thanks

Alex a.k.a Goose

have a double check of everything.

most motherboards run the ram at 1.8v by default, your looks like it need 2.1V. its always a good idea to lock all the ram times down in the BIOS.

after that, run prime small FFT and Bend. then run some memtest.

then insure all your drives and chipset drivers are upto date. go to the manufacturers website to do this.

How do i do that:D , thanks by the way

on startup, hammer the delete key.

this will take you into the BIOS

then you want to go the jumper free configuration.

in there take the D ram timings off auto and set to what will be printed on your sticker.

then set the D ram voltage to what is specifies on you ram

what OS you running mate? and its possbile the NB is voerheating, as i used to get BSODs with the NB over heating. what i did was take of the utter crap ASUS give for the thermal paste on my P5K-E for my NB and Mofsets, and replaced it with OCZ freeze (which i have found to be better than arcitc silver 5.

My P5K-E wifi NB and SB are very very hot to the touch, I cant keep my finger on the SB for more than about 3 seconds before it burns :O ! My "motherboard" temp reports at 31c too :S

Guide for overclocking on the P5K but does tell you what most the BIOS options do.. havent updated it since some of the earlier BIOS versions so might have things called differently in the BIOS

yeah as above check your ram voltage.

also what version of bios you running ? on asus site you need version 504 or 612 wich i think is latest to support that cpu. could be worth checking

I have similar mobo P5K-E, if I select the wrong sata setting in bios it bluescreens just as windows is about to appear so I have to leave it in Eide mode then it works flawlessly, maybe take a look & try it
