Asus P5K Premium/WiFi-AP Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard.

thanks.

You can reflash it from a usb memory stick.

Not if he can't boot to the bios in the first place. I am not familiar with the P5k, but it might have a back-up dual bios, check the mobo hand book. If it's soldered on with no dual bios, then rma is the only option.

Mr-White's Hotflash will work as well, but only if the bios chip is removable.

1 of the reasons that I like abits - they still use socketed, user replaceable BIOS chips unlike Asus, Gigabyte etc. who have moved onto the (cheaper for them) soldered variety.

The bios on your board is soldered on, so no chance of replacing unless you are very handy with a soldering iron.

The bios recovery will only work if the boot block is not corrupted, if the boot block is okay you will get something on the screen like this "searching for bios image on cd drive", insert the original driver cd and it will flash itself.

There is someone in Wales who solders new bios chips on boards for £20, he advertises on the bay. Although its probably not worth it with the cost of carriage on top.
