As I am looking for my first "real" job in IT, I spent most of my day filling in a application form for the west yorkshire police. reason for going for it: easy to get to, what i want to do, decent salary, i can do it, offers training etc.

but does anyone here work for the force? i dont know anyone that does, and i know this is hardly the same as being a cop. anyone had experience with them?

:confused::rolleyes:

My sister works for North Yorkshire Police as a civilian. It's good pay, good pension package and good holiday entitlement. Don't see why your so concerned with working for them?

I'd rather not work anywhere government related; there's a million times the amount of red tape as elsewhere.

Yeah shove it to those bureaucrats, their not getting your skillz :mad:

It's not that, it's just that red tape is bad enough everywhere, it'll be worse if it's a government/public service you're working for. I couldn't live with it myself.

I could, jobs a job - not trying to change the world myself ;) :p

I used to work for Durham Constabulary as a contractor. Best job I ever had, they look after you well and the work itself was nice and varied, you get to meet a lot of very interesting people, too.
