the alarm on my 306 cab seems to be going off randomly, roof is closed properly, windows are fine. was stood next to it and it just went off after being turned off and re-locked.

I've had to disconnect the battery for now as its far to blimming loud and cant be arsed leaving it to go off all the time!

Anyone have any suggestions as to why the alarm would keep triggering?
- no, nobody is trying to break into it
- no, its not cats jumping onto it or similar

:/

Flat Battery?

shouldnt be, gets a 100mile round trip to work daily. other than that its not used much atm.

Wind? Over sensitive tilt sensor?

shouldnt be, given i mentioned its not a cat jumping on it. ive rocked it quite a bit which didnt set it off

If there's motion sensing it could well be a moth. Had that before.

could possible be that. what a pain!

Moth zappy thing right next to the car tbh!

"oooh...shiny car! OOOOOOHHHHH SHINY LI---" *tsss*

It will more than likely be the sensonic sensors. Common fault on the 306's. Had it on my 306 gti6. You can get over it for now by locking and deadlocking the car by using the key in the barrel and turning and holding until you hear it deadlock. That way it wont arm the alarm (you'll note the indicators dont flash) but the car shall be fully locked. The sensors are the little microphone looking things at the top of each A pillar.

What phase of 306 do you have?

I have a phase 3 which is a bit of a pain to change the sensonics as the plug for them is hidden behind the dash somewhere :( So I just brought phase 2 sensonics and some bullet connectors and spliced them into the phase 3 loom behind the A pillar covers. Worked a treat and now my alarm doesnt randomly go off either :D

my GF has the same problem with her fiesta, alarm keeps going of when it to windy or just randomly too.

sensonic sensors? tilt sensors?

Sorry to hijack lol

Wind shouldnt really effect sensonic sensors unless it is causing a disturbance inside the car. I'm not sure on the setup on Fiestas and whether they have tilt sensors and if they do how sensitive they are.

i have the same problem on my fiesta, but mine only goes off on sunny days. can the car be getting to hot inside and setting off any sensors?

this a thought i had, though on the odd, not so sunny day and even with the sunroof open it does, though neva when the windows are down????

Yup, this is what's wrong. Although you can still lock the car normally with the fob. Before you get out of the car hold down the small button on the steering column until the red light on the dash stays lit. You can then lock the car normally and the sensors will be disabled but the rest of the alarm will work fine. :)

There's a fix on www.306gti6.com, being a cab I'm sure it's a phase3 that uses the later sensors which,l like Gixer said, are like £80 to replace and a pain in the ass as they're behind the dash. But there's a FAQ to change them like Gixer has by cutting and chimping. I just use the button :p

Excellent, thanks to you both :]
Its a W reg, I know its not a phase 1, but whether its a 2 or 3 i dont know.

As the car is at home rather than with me in work, are the sensors likely to be in the same place as no cabs? I cant say that I have noticed the sensors at the top of the a pillars :/

Not sure. As TripleT says you definately have a phase 3, mine is on a V plate.

I'll take a look at the pug portal at lunch time and see where it has the sensors positioned in the cab model.

Triple T the 306gti6 site is where I found out about fitting phase 2 sensonics to my phase 3. I'm Paul_gti6_UK on there. Saved myself a fortune as phase 2 sensonics are only about £25 :D

I could never get that damn button on my steering coloumn to turn off the alarm. I read how it should work but mine must be broken or something as it doesnt :( hence my use of the key until I replaced then sensonic units.

Glad to see that Ford have issues too though! Looks like it isn't just French electrics that can be a pain in the butt.
