Got a new car! (Mx5)

i did a bit of a write up at the time of changing from f1s to proxies and as i remember there wasn't much in it (apart from the price) :)

Ooo interesting, cause I was wondering whether it was worth spending the extra on F1's at all. By the sounds of it, it isn't.

bledd., If you do not need the space that a vectra gives you then yes you should! Very good fun so far, once clean I will have to have a few shots with my mates british racing green mk1.

Once insurance gets lower I will start looking into a supercharger. :p It really does show up how good gearing can help a lot. As it is the same speed as the Dolomite in 1st and 2nd, but then in 3rd and above the Mx5 is much better.

That looks truely fantastic with those rims. Good choice, although I still love the Dolly.

Another one :D I'm looking into buying one at the moment so at some point no doubt I'll be making a similar thread

Hey,

Well the Dolomite went on me again a few weeks ago so it began the hunt for a new car, my milage has increased a bit too so needed something a little less thirsty (got 20mpg on vpower in the Dolly).

So here it is. :D

If anyones interested with the level of equipment its got, it has:

Electric windows
Electric mirrors
Air conditioning
Headrest speakers
LSD

Also its had a few modifications done to it, originally the mk1 came with 14" alloys, whereas this one has 15" Oz racing ones. Lowered too which makes it look much better, it also has rectangular headlights which I am not too keen on. I plan to change that back to standard as the amount of light they produce is useless. Not too keen on the gearknob and handbrake cover but all I need to do is goto a scrappy and get some off another Mx5 to go back to stock. Plus it has EBC greenstuff pads alround to help it stop.

Loving it so far though. :D Especially the LSD + wet wide open space.

I love it, always loved the look of these cars no matter how much stick people give them, just not sure at 6ft4 whether i could ever fit in one!

If for some reason I decided my CTR had to go, I'd buy a Focus and have one of these for the weekends. I used to hate them, but now I really like them rather a lot.

The only issue may be that I'm 6' 3" tall- would that be a problem, would I fit?

I'm 6 foot exactly and fit fine without the seat all the way back. It just feels a bit odd when you're used to a normal car seating position as you find yourself a bit more laid back.

Cool. I should try one out. I work next to somebody with a mk1, and I'm sure they won't mind too much.

Hopefully I won't have to buy one, but it would be good to know. I like my CTR at the moment- it's behaving itself for a change.

Is the majority of your height from your legs? If so you may have problems. My brother who is 6ft 2 can't get along with it due to a lot of his height being from his legs. I have absolutely no problem with being 6ft, still have about 3-4 notches further back if I needed it.

My legs are quite long, 34" inseam. Someone who I work with who is the same height as me has a 36" inseam. I guess I'll only know if I try one out.
