I never jumped on it, all I said was that a him being good at shredding, does not mean he is a good guitarist.

He could be.. and he's a good shredder... But that's all you can say.

You must be a really good guitar player to make such comments on technique ?, or you just guessing ?

To the people in this thread who's first reaction is to say 'lets go steal his guitar and money'. I know your only joking, but I'm guessing those that posted this are just teenagers, shocks me peoples attitude today :( ...to even think this is very worrying tbh. Didn't even enter my head and surely it's not big, clever or funny to post that ?. (but then I'm from a generation who didn't run riot stealing and generally being 'ch*v sc*m')

Do I play the guitar? Yes. Am I any good? No. Can you tell who is a good guitarist from that short one minute video... No.

Oh don't get me wrong, I wasn't being argumentative in the slightest! Its difficult to converse on a forum and show how you are saying things :)

I was however being negative towards the guitar community. You are right, being good at shredding doesn't make him a good guitarist. But I just don't understand why anyone, including yourself, would make that comment in the first place. This isn't 1987, people know that fast guitar isn't always good guitar!

If I'm being honest, it just seemed like you wanted to put him down. Its like someone painting a really nice painting, and saying "sorry but you can't really say he's a good painter until you have seen all of his paintings". That attitude, whether or not you have it, does irk me. Credit where credit is due.

Playing like that surely he aint a 1 trick pony ?, there is a lot of stuff going on there... and with knowledge of how to get a guitar to sound so good he could prolly jam along to anything much the same ?

I'm just guessing though, as I only know 3 chords :)

I take don't offence, so don't worry. It's a public forum, with lots of different opinion. If i didn't want an opinion on my views, I wouldn't offer that opinion in the first place.

I didn't put him down, that wasn't a put down at all. I was agreeing with all of what Nickbee said, even the third line of that.

Shredding isn't incredibly hard, it does take a lot of practice. I'm more of an accoustic guitarist first and foremost.

But i didn't say he was a bad guitarist, all I said is that it doesn't mean he's instantly a good one. Do I need to put that in bold before someone else takes my quote right out of context?!
