UN prison in The Hague, WTH (it's a damn 4 star hotel)

Im trying to find a site i seen a few months back of a prison in the US somewhere. They all lived in tents, no luxuries or anything. Im looking at these pictures to see items like televisions and even a PC!!

These people are supposed to be in prison as punishment for committing crimes etc. Seems like quite a nice place, having even a Gym and court.

this is the sound of the man working on the chain... gang

thats all i wanna hear and see about prison tbh hard graft for the scum

As per title, it's a damn disgrace, those criminal leaders and other idiots sit in more luxury than the average poor person:

There's no such thing as a "UN prison", and that is not a "UN prison at the Hague".

The photos are of the twelve detention cells in Scheveningen Prison which are used by the International Criminal Court.

I wish they weren't so comfortable, but that's how it is. I guess the ICC doesn't want to be accused of unfair treatment or something.

As I thought :), not a prison, but a rather misguided OP. Meh @ over sensational thread topics.

Yeah thats just the holding cell's for the accused (though we know they dunit) and the UN cant really be as bad to the accused as they ahve to all the people they have killed (makes the last guy look like he might have a point). Hopefuly the place they are sent too afterwards is not pictured for a reason.....

From my point of view the point of prisons is to isolate people from society by removing their freedom to interact with it. It is not to subject them to abject poverty.

but they arn't really innocent the only reason they are at the hauge is because they know they will get a conviction..

The International Criminal Court works by the Rome Statute of 2002 which states:

The Rome Statute provides that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

Innocence until guilt is proven is a very important legal concept. In our country it goes back at least to the Magna Carta. Just look at the massive fuss that's been kicked up recently over 42 day detention without charge.

yeah but these are people who publicly committed genocide, it's not like some guy who might have done it but no one saw so obviously treat as innocent until it's proved. These are cases where they bring the eye witnesses in by the bus load.

For example say you, and several hundred others watched me stab a man in the face repeatedly till he died. would you refer to me as innocent until after the trial?

Yes. You could have diminished responsibility (I know this is no longer a defence, but it's easier to just call it that), there could be mitigating circumstances etc.

I doubt whether the people involved in these trials have ever killed anyone with their own hands. This makes it very difficult to actually prove guilt since they claim that any political leader in war time will be blamed for the deaths that occur but its not necessarily their fault, just a fact of war.

It is also necessary to have a fair and proper trial to prevent revenge attacks by supporters of the accused man because you make him a martyr if you assume he is guilty without presenting evidence.
