6 pin or 8 pin for a new 4870 card

Hi all i have a HD2900 and was thinking of going for a nice new 4870, my power supply has two six pin connectors can the 4870 work with this like the HD2900 or do i have to buy some sort of converter 6-8 pin jobby.

The above is my PSU, I take it only really really new PSU's have the special 8pin for gpu's then?

Do adapters come with the graphics card? Are they safe to use?

maybe.. but my psu in my sig was £50 and it as 2 6+2pins and 2 6pins

I have had my time dabling with xfire and sli now its time for a real brute GTX again unlike the pretend 9800gtx and I know its pricey compared to the competition but ever since its release I just wanted to have it ... now its down to £265 I can't wait any longer!!!
