Who remembers Syphon Filter? It was a mix between Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell and damn good one at that. There hasn't been a proper Syphon Filter game on a console since 2001. Its been keeping the PSP alive for a few years now though, PSP game of the year in 2006 (Dark Mirror).

I think Sony may well be working on a new Syphon Filter game for the PS3. I hope they are anyway. Syphon Fitler needs a next gen make over. Who is with me?

p.s. You can buy all the PS1 Syphon Filter games on PSN.

Syphon Filter 1 - 1999
IGN ranked Syphon Filter #19 on their list of the "Top 25 Games of All Time" for the first PlayStation console. [1]

* GameSpot: 9.0
* IGN: 9.5
* Electronic Gaming Monthly: 7.62 out of 10
* Official PlayStation Magazine: 4 out of 5

This game was and is ace, air tasering people to death until the burst into flames?! brilliant! Groin grabbingly good if you ask me. Be good to see this on PS3 or any platform

There hasn't been a proper Syphon Filter game on a console since 2001.

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain was out in 2004 for PS2.

Yes I would love another game on PS3, but only if the controls got a complete make over since they have aged horribly by todays standards.

Syphon Filter (1) absolutely rocked! I couldn't get away with the sequels though.

It's going to have a tough time living up to Hitman, Splinter Cell and of course, Metal Gear Solid though.

The first one was amazing! Im seriously keen on a PS3 version!

Same. The PS3 needs one really with Hitman not being on it (and being brilliant) and Splinter Cell being probably the worst of all ports (shame as it's great).
I'm hoping they take all the best elements of the 3 big stealth games and really give us something special.

I would rather Sony bring us a re-make of Fade to Black though.

The first one was brilliant, but the others suck. So I'm not sure if I'd be exited about another one.

Would a new SF game really make a big impact? Wouldn't be much of a secret worth keeping IMO. As others have said the first game was great, but the rest of the series suffered badly.

I forgot all about Spyhon Filter.

Syphon Filter and MGS were my favourite games in the days of Ps1/Ps2.

The last one i played was Syphon Filter for the PS2, and i enjoyed playing the single player mode, however i was really disappointed in the multiplayer as i could never find anyone online to play with. Must have only had a few games online, had about 3 friends online :D

Cant wait to see a new one out on the PS3.

Syphon Filter was hugely popular back when it was first released, it got a lot of press along side Metal Gear Solid as iirc they were released really close to one another and were compared a lot. It was one of my most memorable PS1 games Id love to see a PS3 remake, although now-a-days a lot would have to be changed.

Even more than games like Fade to Black Pyroboy?
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed SF(1) but even then it paled to Fade to Black and Metal Gear Solid 1.

I was talking about the PS1 the other day and the sheer number of classics on it was immense.
I thought about picking up another one and Olympic Soccer again.

Why get a PS1? You can use your PS3 and your PSP for remote play.

Olympic Soccer sucked ass, at least I though it did :p

Shame on you and your family. Any game with commentry from Alan Davies makes it instant classic.

My best memory was my mate scoring from a back heel on the half way line. we both thought PS went nuts for about 1sec
