Awhile ago i bought 1 of these, and straight away i noticed how ridiculously hot it got, so i sent it back and got a replacement, and while it was a lot cooler i still thought it was a bit hot (the bottom fan seemed to barely spin). A couple of days ago i swapped cases, and thought id check how hot the PSU was and its was almost too hot to touch, once again it seemed to be faulty. Im probably going to have to do an RMA for it, but has anyone else ever had anything like this ?

Is the fan running? Seems a bit odd. My 620HX is as cool as cool can be. Theres definately enough airflow? Is it sucking any hot air from CPU or GFX card?

this is pretty much the first time I've heard anyone have any problem with a corsair HX.

I'll echo the above, is it you that's doing something wrong?

Yeah its in correctly, and the big fan on the bottom of it is spinning, which to me seems a bit slow. Plenty of air flow in the case aswell.

Yep same as my rma replacement gets very hot fan barely spinning but the weather is very humid wrong time to judge really.
My original hx520 barely got warm so there's defo something up here.

Will never be buying corsair again tbh even though they're rma was fast they received it on a thursday got the new one on tuesday, it costs £17+ to rma it because the address is in holland.

Most power supplies will probably be hot in this weather though but I do suspect the quality control has slipped with corsairs now.
I suspect bad installing of heatsinks on them or something, I'm not about to shell out another £18 to send it back though if you go post office cheapest is blummin £28 to send it but interparcel you can get for £17.60.

If mine goes wrong again I will buy a new PSU and wait a couple of years and then rma the crappy thing so they'll have to send me a newer model hopefully.

I was thinking with mine maybe they installed the fan the wrong blummin way round so it's sucking out air ?

Its supposed to vent the air from your case. Thats why I was asking if it was sucking the air from the cpu or gfx card.

Mine runs warm, but every psu does.

I got it originally sometime in November last year, and about a week after that i got the replacement (which i checked out, the fan still looked wimpy underneath but the whole thing was still cooler). Bit annoying seing as everyone seems to sing them praise :/.

Is it working? The caps in them are rated to 110 degs celsius usually, sometimes higher so I wouldn't worry, my Antec gets hot and that's been goign for donkey's* years.

*"Donkey" means 3 1/2 years.

I got my HX520 second user and that's been fine, really quiet and the few times I checked after installing it it was nice and cool to the touch. Mines in an old style Lian-Li case so the PSU sits at the top with the 120mm fan sucking in air from the general area where the CPU cooler is.

No no, its at the top with big fan facing downwards. Corsair have accepted the RMA but expect me to send it to the Netherlands (like C64 said), and thats gonna cost me a fair bit of cash, not very pleased with Corsair tbh, infact i wish i never changed my Thermaltake PSU.

my 620W sometimes gets hot but its only because ive got a cramped case without much airflow with it already sucking in hot air
