Shag doing its defensive pose at someone who got too close, fortunately with a 600 F4 I don't have to get too close :D

Sometimes they eject fishy vomit in the direction of the assailant, although I think he got the message in this case and let the Shag get back to tending to its chicks.

Great pose, great photo as usual :)

For a matter of interest, how often do you go out with the sole intention of photography? For example, a couple of times a week? These shots must take hours of patience and travel, I don't know where you find the time!

that, is scary. nice shot!

hehe, its pretty scary when your close - especially if you know what comes out if it gets really Irate!

Cheers,

Me Neither :D I've been going out a lot recently, all weekend each week. The Bass Rock trip has been cancelled 3 times recently due to weather, so i've defaulted back to the Farne Islands where there are plenty of shots, and a pretty much guarenteed landing.

Going to a bird Colony to photograph stuff, doesn't require that much patience, as the place is generally stuffed with subjects. Its more dicipline and resisting the temptation to take pictures of everything without thinking and coming away with cards full of junk that everyone else has. I tend to concentrate on one subject at a time, although I do prefer interaction/group portraits, but that can be very difficult.

Things will be slowing down a little now, most of the wildlife has bred and moved on, especially sealife.
I want to get on Bass Rock one last time before the Gannets move off, after that i'll be going back to some more Drag racing in September, then waiting for My favourite place - Donna Nook in October!

Really looking forward to DNook this year, we'll all have to meet up in the carpark in the morning.. I'll be there every weekend anyway, as I only live 30 miles away :D
